Re: Applying to Correctional Service Canada

buYou think I'm going to read 453 pages!!! If people can't be more helpful and direct their attitude towards new applicants then maybe just say nothing at all What did you want to know in the first place? It seems you were told everything you asked until you were inquiring about getting test result...

Re: Applying to Correctional Service Canada

I had my interview on Monday, and just received instructions to go to a medical...scheduled for October 1. I can only assume that means I passed my interview. PUMPED. Yup, if I was a betting man I'd bet yer in. That's how it worked for me anyway. People that I listed as references told me they had ...

Re: Applying to Correctional Service Canada

The Don, I will be joining you in Sask. Do you have any idea about what time frame we will be starting at our institution saying we pass everything? Normally, it's usually 2-3 days to get to your institution after grad. But some people have managed to get extra days, you just have to ask and they m...

Re: Done trying to explain to people

I fail to see how corrections isn't law enforcement. The law puts the inmates there...CXs keep them there (among other things). By simply not letting a con leave...laws are being enforced by CX's. That is law enforcement. When I lock a door/cell....I am enforcing a law. Enforce: enĀ·force[en-fawrs, -...

Re: Applying to Correctional Service Canada

I haven't been on the boards in a while and I'm just curious if people are still getting invites to start CTP or not? With the budget cuts/closures/transfer freezes announced I was wondering if CSC is still processing those in the hiring process. I've only been on the job for 2 months now...and man,...

Re: Applying to Correctional Service Canada

No I just meant shooting a firearm to minimize the initial stress of never shooting a firearm before. Do you think I should at least do that? or would it be more beneficial to wait and do everything at core? or does it even matter, maybe I am being overly ambitious lol. If you want to get that &quo...

Re: Applying to Correctional Service Canada

Woo hoo just received my stage 1 invite today!! I just had my medical on the 28th and haven't received the results from that yet. I guess I can assume I passed my medical? Nope! Health Canada takes a while to go over all your findings, and since it was two days ago, they probably haven't even looke...

Re: Applying to Correctional Service Canada

Anybody know how the new budget affects the CSC? I looked for information but only found information about cuts to public service pensions, CBC, MP office budgets, etc I was told by a staff member at the RSC that the "hiring extravaganza" that has gone on lately is coming to an end, so we...

Re: Applying to Correctional Service Canada

some people just don't do well in a real setting, they don't grasp the scope of their duties while on OJT, they are assesed as they progress through it by CX Mentors. My hubby just passed his medical and is starting stage one, yay! Well im glad i dont have to worry about this happening with my husb...

Re: Applying to Correctional Service Canada

You mean until he finishes his 2 weeks of OJT and then signs on, but remember there is still a year of probation to follow. Although I haven't seen anyone let go during probation and I work with some real winners ;-) You sign your offer now and become an 'employee' in the last few days of CTP. OJT ...

Re: Applying to Correctional Service Canada

I should add....that I realize it won't be greeted with cheers...and I am basically only asking as a form of insurance, or a 'What If....", if the response is "It won't screw you over" I still don't plan on showing up with it incomplete.....I just want to know what the 'worst case sce...
