Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

Maybe I’ll be shit on for this. Maybe not. But... if you are at depot and your troopmate is that guy that wants out... how does it effect you personally? Maybe I don’t see the big picture but... I don’t think if effects me at all. If that’s what they want to do. Just be a good troopmate that’s all ...

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

How many retire every year out of those 19k he mentionned ? And do they automatically replace retiree with new recruits as soon as a vacancy becomes available ? Any idea ? There's a joke at Depot about how staffing just get drunk on the weekend and play darts with the cadets name on them and throw ...

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

If you get upset every time the CBC or any media posts something misleading or inflammatory against the police, you're going to have a very long career.

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

Does this mean you guys will be staying in B block? How exactly would that work? There aren’t even any quarters in B-Block anymore, and haven’t been for almost a decade. Are you planning on having cadets sleep in the mock courtroom, or perhaps the simulated prison cell block? On the mats in the PDT...

Is it true that some cadets at Depot live in trailers lol.
Yes, some troops are housed in portables.

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

Does Depot teach you horse riding? Or is it like a specialty unit that you sign up to participate in the musical ride. They do not. You apply for the ride, and you should ideally have some riding experience. You are evaluated and then accepted or not. Last time it was taught was in the 60s I believe

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

Hi everyone, I just wanted to chime in and give an update. I’m not actively seeking employment but my husband is and he’s doesn’t utilize the internet much so every once in a while I try and read up on what’s going on to see if anything has changed. He applied in October of 2018 and completed every...

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

I just came across the following: The fitness program requires cadets to arrive at the Training Academy in good shape and able to meet the following standards: 2.43 kilometre run (1.5 miles) in 10:45 minutes (men) and 12:00 minutes (women); 4.86 kilometre run (3.0 miles) in 22:00 minutes (men) and ...

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

Honestly, how infuriating is it to hear someone who hasn't done a second on the job try and belittle any form of policing, be it small town/large city/investigative or patrol. Anyways I don't mean to keep the hate train going. I actually applaud the RCMP for going against the fold when it comes to ...

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

It amazes me how applicants (not all) think they got a free pass to critize the RCMP and have this expectation that the force owes them or some sort. Good on recruiting for making these changes to the process so that they can weed out the undiserables. Entitled applicants leads to entitled members.

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

Just saw all the changes they made to the process and I'm left speechless. I was expecting they would radically shorten and simplify both the recruitment and training, but instead they made it even longer and more cumbersome. https://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/en/how-to-apply The key point is that going fo...

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

Oh okay, makes sense. Is it easier to get in with rcmp than it is for provincial or municipal? You need to do a WHOLE LOT of reading on these forums! Getting into the RCMP is only the first hurdle. I’ve been all over this forum and the search button has been mighty useful, where do you suggest I st...

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

Quick question guys, I’m not here to ask the same questions that are usually asked but maybe ask some new ones that haven’t been asked before, so here we go. How did you guys know that you were a good fit for law enforcement? Where did you start? How did you prepare yourself for the process? A year...

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

It’s you calling “many” front lines officers, that you don’t actually know, out of shape.

The PARE should also be a requirement for regular members as well as a yearly test to pass. Way too many front line officers who are simply out of shape. My polygrapher was well in his late 50s, and is running marathons.
Perhaps you should become a member before making such statements.
