Re: CBSA uniform components test phase

They are coming along. I think we are likely to see a combination of the third with some features tied in. In all reality, what we see is likely to be the end game on the third. Keep the faith folks.

Re: Ask the CBSA!

Thank you Take my word for it - slim. You will be sent where you are needed. Its in the same vein as...

Re: Ask the CBSA!

Can't answer anymore of that really. Yes - current CBSA. As per the timeline - its been over 8 years since I went through the "process" so to speak. The Timelines now and the OITP seem to be much faster and expeditious as opposed to the previous POERT program all those years ago. I can't a...

Re: Ask the CBSA!

Gimme a minute and I will try and answer some of your questions point by point 1) You shouldn't require to get a background check from your time lived abroad. You may be interviewed further about your time abroad in regards to a Security Clearance though. Be prepared with addresses, dates lived etc....

Re: CBSA Vests

My vest is in shambles but it speaks to the worksmanship to the end product. Of course...crawling in snow and slush and salt and getting covered in grease aint likely to help... also....lunch.

Re: CBSA Vests

Unknown - but might be worth drawing some attention to. Though that being said, there were supposed to be changes made to the vest carriers in their composition for front line I had heard in the past. Again, old news - thinking I saw it through the UPWG updates awhile back.

Re: CBSA Vests

Sounds better than the previous personnel involved in the Uni Program.
Literally proposed a garment last year and built a business case where the A/Manager told me verbatim on the phone "You should be thankful you aren't wearing wool".

Re: Ask the CBSA!

I'd venture to guess that until the Airports are carrying their firearms full time, that the SBSO program will still exist as part of the FSWEP.
Until that day, it's here to stay....

Re: CBSA Vests

Keep poking everyone into the conversation. Thats the only way we can truly have a say. At some point they will look and go "holy shit - they all want the same thing....everywhere...." We won't get everything we want but there is a now a reality that they are ready to acknowledge the short...

Re: CBSA Vests

The amount of F**ks some of those guys give on there is astounding - but a lot of the statements aren't too far off base really.

Re: CBSA Vests

Well thats entirely possible but by the same token, our last kit was mostly made in Indonesia and our pants in 'Nam.

Might be worth poking 5.11 to make a submission to the CBSA lol

Re: CBSA Vests

A number of us have been. After reading a number of the "posting" procedures for procurement, they are right that "brand names" cannot be directly requested. It would be much simpler for them to however make the process so ridiculously restrictive to the literal construction of t...

Re: Ask the CBSA!

Stick to CSA approved boots if you are attending Rigaud.

Attending and being out of Uniform (and depending on your trainers, they WILL confirm your kit) is a big no-no.

Best of luck to everyone.

Re: GENERAL CBSA APPLICANT CHIT CHAT

I can't answer for the current system but in my experience these things don't happen too expeditiously.
Be patient.

When I was a candidate years ago, I waited a total of 24 months from application to testing to interview to selection to attend training.

Good luck everyone.
