Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

Out of pure curiousity, how are the two troops of Cadets that are self-isolating at Depot faring? Would you be able to provide any insight on what Cadets are limited to during this two week phase? Ie Receiving study materials, physical fitness training, areas they are not to go/must remain? I've be...

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

There were only 10-12 troops on base at a time during this past fiscal year, with an average of one starting each week. For the last two years we've had a steady 20 troops on base at any given time. At our peak in 2008/09 we had 56 troops with 24-26 on base at any given time. Training was only 24 w...

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

We have posted a statement on our website about the resumption of training. I can try to answer general questions, but we aren't ready to announce details at this time. Questions about recruiting and troop loading are best directed to your file coordinators and recruiters. I ask for patience while w...

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

I plan to bring mine and have already routed the trip. It’s 2,600km though haha. Going to give myself 3 days to do it Same here, only 1,958km from Vancouver Island. It'll be a nice final road trip with the wife before six months away and then fly her back home, it'll be helpful to have a vehicle at...

Are the rooms private or with roommate at depot? Thank you.
Each cadet has their own room off a common hallway. The rooms are not completely private as the walls don't go all the way to the ceiling and they have a curtain rather than a door, but your space is not shared with anyone else.

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

I grew up on the shores of Lake Ontario and served with the CAF in Alberta. Dry cold for the win! Lol cold is cold, but being able to deal with it is key I'm just used to the B.C wet cold so it will be interesting for S.K dry cold. See you guys soon. It’s much more tolerable. The wind sucks, buts t...

Re: RCMP Depot Band

EDIT: I appear to have found the answer finding Cached pages from old forums. My understanding is when I get there they will ask for volunteers if they need them and I either stick my hand up, get drafted, or don't have to if other people decide to take our troops spots. Feel free to post a correct...

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

The e-mail i received illistrates that the changes are as follows; as of 12/01/2018 “You will again be tested prior to graduation, and will be required to complete the PARE in 4 minutes or less”. So the inital pare is passed below 05:30 and befor graduation under 04:00? So for the normal situation ...

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

A friend of mine is there right now and said some cadets are closer to the 8 minute mark. PARE times over 7 minutes are exceedingly rare and are the reason for this change. Now, cadets who can't complete the PARE in less than 5:30 can be removed from the program at the start of training rather than...

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

That's ridiculous. I'm sorry but if an applicant is not in good enough shape to do the PARE in 5:30 they should be sent home immediately ... That is literally the change that is being implemented. If a cadet can't complete the PARE in less than 5:30, they have to do a re-test within three days. If ...

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

PARE test 1 is now 5:30, does that make PARE 2 also 5:30 or 4:45 and PARE 3 4:00? ( not sure about this - friend told me they no longer do the Gas room? ) The gas exposure has been gone for a while. The time needed to pass PARE #1 is still 4:45. The PARE changes come into effect in December and act...

Re: Furniture, storage, and Depot

As a member of the military, be aware of the following. The RCMP has two relocation policies: the Newly Engaged Member policy (for new constables fresh out of Depot) and the Relocation Directive (for existing employees moving to a subsequent posting). The latter has slightly more coverage. Most appl...

Re: Furniture, storage, and Depot

Looking for an answer for a rather specific question, has anyone, mainly those who have already gone thru Depot, put their belongings in storage. I am currently in the military posted in Ottawa and living in military housing. This is going to force me to place my furniture and belongings in storage...

The only educational requirement is a high school diploma or the equivalent.

A post-secondary degree or diploma may let you skip the written entrance exam, but it is not a requirement.

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

Hi Depot Web, as fall is slowly creeping its way in I thought I would follow up to see whether the dates for Christmas break had been announced yet? Thanks in advance. The 2018 holiday break will be the week of December 24. Classes are scheduled to end at 16:30 on Friday, December 21, and will resu...
