Re: GENERAL CBSA APPLICANT CHIT CHAT

What are you going on about? The federal government has ONE police service, and CSIS is tasked with completing security clearances as part of its mandate. The process takes time because there is a federal-wide queue. Following is an excerpt from a member of this forum who is a BSO and in my opinion...

Re: GENERAL CBSA APPLICANT CHIT CHAT

I was trying to simplify numbers. 35 years is the max pensionable time, but the age was raised to 60 from 55 to draw from your pension without penalty. My apologies for the confusion. Any employee who signed their contract before this change maintains a retirement age of 55 based on the agreement in...

Re: GENERAL CBSA APPLICANT CHIT CHAT

5% penalty per year for every year you retire before 60 (I.e. meeting the age factor), and 2% per year for every year you retire under the maximum pensionable time (ie 40 year max).

A “25 and out” pension only proposes to emilninate the 5% penalty; the 2% per year loss would still apply.

Re: GENERAL CBSA APPLICANT CHIT CHAT

Just be mindful that every police agency pays more than CBSA and they have a 35 year pension with an 85 factor (age + years of service must = 85). The CBSA age factor is now 90 for all new hires. This should weigh HEAVILY into your choice of employer. Essentially, you’re all looking at having to put...

Re: GENERAL CBSA APPLICANT CHIT CHAT

Grammar matters, and you need to be healthy and at your best to work in law enforcement (hence the PARE and psych testing): that is what I was trying to convey, though perhaps too directly. Each application a person submits should be evaluated on its merits the same as everyone else.
