Re: GENERAL CBSA APPLICANT CHIT CHAT

Hi all, I’d like to thank everyone on line who contributed to my questions by answering them over the last several months. I was looking forward to possibly going to Rigaud in July but covid put a halt on that, as we all know to well. I’m likely going to accept a federal government job offer in Hali...

Re: GENERAL CBSA APPLICANT CHIT CHAT

I just got an email also giving me until May 29 for the PARE - now to find someplace that will be open by then for testing. Where do you live? It’s anyones guess if PARE locations will be open, even by the end of May!?! I’m in Alberta. Ok.. I’m in Halifax, the local spot here that does testing is a...

Re: GENERAL CBSA APPLICANT CHIT CHAT

How are you keeping your fitness up (cardio AND strength) with all of this crap going on? Since all the gyms are closed, most of us don't have home gyms and there is almost no basic equipment available to buy for home (I'm talking 2 pairs of useful dumbbells (35s and 45s minimum) and one collapsibl...

It’s tough.....no income if being sent home until further notice?
I truly feel for those students who are without income and have to go home until this passes.
Very unfortunate circumstances and I hope you all make it back to resume training.

Re: GENERAL CBSA APPLICANT CHIT CHAT

With Parliament being suspended until April 20 and the Federal budget date getting pushed back, do you guys think this would also delay the launch of the new job posting? That’s a great question. I wish I knew the answer. I would assume that they already have their recruitment targets, and unlikely...

Re: GENERAL CBSA APPLICANT CHIT CHAT

I don’t know what you are speaking of, I don’t find anybody here frustrated or complaining in an overly negative context. Simply a chat group with people sharing ideas. If anything, you’re the most sour individual I’ve read on this forum so far. Relax man, it’s not that bad. I think the main issue ...

Re: GENERAL CBSA APPLICANT CHIT CHAT

That's the exact reason I see reducing the number they deal with as the best way to improve the process. Reduction of the number of Applicants that move ahead in the process : 1st wave reduction : OTEE, managed by CBSA (no expense for applicants) . 2nd wave reduction : Psych done by the applicant a...

Re: GENERAL CBSA APPLICANT CHIT CHAT

Let me get something clear about that Relocation thing I was so much writing about here : There's some legitimate reasons one person couldn't afford relocating (far from financial), and these do not make her/him in any way less qualified or capable to perform the BSO duties. As the goal of CBSA / O...

Re: GENERAL CBSA APPLICANT CHIT CHAT

I think the agency has good reason to do testing/interviews as they do. This notion of "quality applicants" and the "most qualified" has an elitist taint. There are plenty of soft skills that make up a great candidate/BSO that aren't necessarily discerned in the tests, that comes out in interviews....
