Re: 2013 Ford Interceptor & Utility

The explorer we have at our detachment is an electronic mess at around 40k. Strobes in the headlights don't work, alarms going off about the cross traffic and backup sensors being fucked, air bag light comes on at times. I've been sticking to the Crown Vic's we have left and the new Tahoe at a neig...

Re: Code 3 Solex

With the name Solex, and the farce of a low-profile shape (2.5 inch average height???), you'd think that it would have an efficient solar panel built into the top surface and offer the ability to run while the vehicle is powered off. That feature alone may have forgiven the abomination that is the p...

Re: Idle Management

From what I've seen on our Interceptor SUV, if you leave the VIP from the RADAR plugged into the OBD port, it will slowly drain the battery. We had a problem where if the car wasn't used for a couple of days in the winter it would be dead when you went to power it up. Unplugged the VIP and no issues...

Re: 2013 Ford Interceptor & Utility

The current interceptors have white LEDs in the headlight buckets that do the wig-wag function instead of the headlights. Very bright. Can you turn off just the wig wags? Once I'm stationary they're off. I hate driving towards PCs that are wig wagging. Blinding. You can, and I personally prefer the...

Re: CBSA Vests

I switched to the 5.11's as well before I left the agency. Far superior quality to the issued pants which excelled at being absolute shit. Blew the ass out of two pairs of issued pants just by crouching down. Once in the middle of reading the section 98 detention wording. Good thing I was wearing bl...

Re: CBSA Vests

The vest has already gone out to tender and has been awarded. Here are the specs they put out and are going with. m A few small changes that's it. The agency will never go with a MOLLE style vest. There's pics at the top and the bottom of the document has drawings of the optional suspenders, cummer...

Re: 2013 Ford Interceptor & Utility

Both versions of the new Fords we are getting are AWD. If I'm not mistaken, AWD is the base option, and you have to specifically request to not have it.

Re: Phone Pouch & Belt Location

I wouldn't be using your phone to be taking high resolution photos for work purposes, even if you misguidedly invested in a "work-only" iPhone. You won't be getting much use out of it the day you actually take photos of something with evidentiary value and the investigating Police officer ...

Re: 2013 Ford Interceptor & Utility

The vast majority of people currently drive, or have had experience driving a personal vehicle with front wheel drive. That's what the new interceptors are for the most part. It doesn't take much to get used to it in my experience. The hardest thing I've found is remembering that I can't do power tu...

I was just kidding. I've done the same, just take it out and put it through the paces on my own. Handles well so far in snow and freezing rain.

2 hour e-learning module, mandatory reading of three specific chapters in the owners manual, as well as a pylon slalom course in the back parking lot. Good to go after that.

Re: Soft Shell outerwear

Can't comment on Condor as I don't have any experience with them, but you're always better off layering as you will be warmer overall and more able to adapt to changing temperature.

...but the old wig wags are far more noticeable in heavy snow / fog from farther way. Oh and the headlights them selves SUCK even on high! LOL Must have to do with the fact that the high beam is by its very definition a focused light source, whereas the replacement white strobes on the new Ford's a...
