Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

Is it true that applicants under 25 will have a near-zero chance of making it? I know it's really all on a case-by-case basis and 25 is well above the minimum, but how many new recruits who make the cut are actually from this age group, roughly? Not true. No one will give you a percentage of applic...

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

Hello ladies and gentlemen, I am currently going the RCMP application process. I was also thinking about applying for the OPP to increase my probability of success. My question is would this look bad on my part as an applicant? I would still pick the RCMP but I know nothing is guaranteed. Thank you...

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

If anyone can elaborate on this, would appreciate it. Once you graduate and given your posting. 1) How much time are you given to find a place to rent. Is moving cost covered. Is there any financial incentives towards your rent for the first year. From what I've read, you are sometimes given a coup...

Congratulations! I totally forget, do they tell you where you're going to get posted or is it after Depot graduation.
You'll know a few weeks before grad. You'll have an interview with staffing first.

How long did you guys wait for your RMAQ call.
If only this question was asked/answered before. To be fair though, there's no way to look back at previous posts. A keyword search would be a great function for the board.

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

I'm from Edmonton, Ab, and when I was offered Troop 24 (Jan 12) back in early December, I was asked if I preferred to drive or fly. I chose the drive option simply because I have family along the way to break up the 800 km drive, (I also had no where to park it for 6 months) :) On that same note, a...

If I speak fluent Mandarin, will I get a better chance of being posted to lower BC?
You'd think so. But then you'd be getting your hopes up before getting posted to central Saskatchewan. Not that it happened to a troopmate or anything....

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

Yes. However only if you are applying to somewhere that requires you to be officially bilingual (i.e. New Brunswick). So if you want to get posted to New Brunswick but you don't score high enough on the test you will end up in another division. Other than that it has no impact. You get a division a...

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

Will taking any prescription drugs that can have side effects such as temporarily having blurry vision, blood pressure changes, dizziness and such bar you potentially from joining the RCMP? Not something you would take daily this is something I take maybe once a week? Just curious I understand this...
