And without going political; military, LEO and border security are easy, acceptable cuts for those who vote for the current governement.
I'm happy to get political.

Imagine cutting LEO/Border Security budget while simultaneously spending billions on a legal gun buyback :pistols: :sniper:

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

RCMP is well on the way to requiring applicants pass the PARE as a condition for a depot invite, good to see.

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

How long ago did you do this, Bewe? I thought we kiboshed R-A-L, as well as having A/Cst on patrol, years ago. In light of 2020-04-18/19 NS, I am thinking if we HAD been allowing it again that the Force will NOT do so again, all due to liability. Hey Pete I know you were not asking me, but I went o...

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

RCMP needs to make the PARE a requirement to complete in the application process...

The archives of this forum show that applicants used to have to do the PARE not once, but TWICE in the application process :banghead:

Re: GENERAL CBSA APPLICANT CHIT CHAT

At this rate with the hiring process already being closed since February 2019 and now the COVID-19 delays, I never even lost any progress with my Pysch deferral in September 2019

My finger print appointment was cancelled due to covid 19, I was told to try and make another appointment in a couple weeks.
Pretty weird to cancel the fingerprinting... isn't it just you and 1 officer doing fingerprinting?

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

I know I am going to come off as the grumpy old man shaking fist at clouds, but I am tired of these types of posts. Its too cold, its too hot, Elsa, the Grinch, some other fictitious character being arrested...its all be done. You're not coming off as a grumpy old man, I am in my twenties and even ...

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

Both parents were cops with 20 plus years. Dad was on the force which the son got hired on. Pretty difficult TO NOT get hired under those circumstances. My buddy got hired as a Community Peace Officer right out of college with no previous work experience, he did that for a year before getting hired...

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

Is it true that applicants under 25 will have a near-zero chance of making it? I know it's really all on a case-by-case basis and 25 is well above the minimum, but how many new recruits who make the cut are actually from this age group, roughly? I personally know 3 people from college who were hire...

Re: Calgary Police Service

Either of you two who did the A-PREP also done the PARE?

Any comparisons you wanna make? which was harder?

I passed the PARE a while back and my fitness has since improved. I might go do it again to see how much my time has improved.

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

One of them is, growing up I was homeschooled. I didn't do the diploma exams (foolish), and havent gotten my GED. I do however have a letter from my vice principal stating I attended grade 12, and recommending for any academic program. It also has an attached final assessment done by a teacher. Wou...

Re: Calgary Police Service

Glad to see CPS applicants now coming out of their shells to share their timelines. It's a very nerve wrecking process and reading up similar timelines here is particularly soothing to say the least. Well, I applied in Spring of 2019 and currently awaiting the results of my Psych test done in Feb. ...

Re: Calgary Police Service

I'll post. I've been a lurker for a long time and here is my time line. I applied in the Spring of 2019 and have progressed up to my Psych Evaluation. Thanks for your reply! I also bought the PolicePrep resource to prepare for the APCAT/ACT. I did open testing with Edmonton Police in November 2019 ...

Re: Calgary Police Service

It's a shame the Calgary Police Service thread is so inactive. I like to think that its the result of less applicants but I think the true culprit is that most users on this forum are from Ontario! Any CPS applicants want to come out of the shadows and discuss their timelines and thoughts on the pro...

Re: GENERAL CBSA APPLICANT CHIT CHAT

I'll drop in, applied in April 2018 with a College Diploma and was exempt from the OTEE. However I was not exempt from the OTEE when I applied for the student CBSA position in December 2018 (I returned to school to upgrade my diploma to a degree) I had to write the OTEE (and passed). But yes, back i...
