Re: $100,000 fine... Hummer siezed... banned for 25 years.
Congratulations, you stopped a poacher . Now how about murderers, rapists, attempted murderers and various other pieces of crap. Thats why I said let's focus on those shitrats with the same seriousness as the poachers in this story. Instead of saying hooray while other criminals get off way too eas...

Congratulations, you stopped a poacher . Now how about murderers, rapists, attempted murderers and various other pieces of crap. I don't think you'd really want Fish and Wildlife Officers investigating murders and rapes. Not that they aren't capable, but it's not what they're trained to do. Why so ...

Re: Of all things to dress up as....
I have yet to meet a Police Officer that would charge somebody for helping someone who was getting assaulted. Police officers are people. People make mistakes. The powers and responsibilities that come with being a police officer involve the potential for one's mistakes to have significant conseque...

Re: Of all things to dress up as....
NOT COOL to call out the Crown by name unless you want to put your own name out there first. Public record... It's published in the newspaper too. That and I don't really care. When I'm charged... My name will be published too. If you want to discuss a situation that's fine. But if you're going to ...

Bitterman, which agency? Fed? Provincial? Just curious as to what the context of that incident was.... it's a situation that we may potentially face at any time, so I'm concerned about the justification that was used to charge the officer in the first place.... Ontario Corrections... Inmate out on ...

Re: Judge finds man guilty in Mall shooting
No kidding eh. If someone law-abiding with a PAL and no criminal record was found to have improperly stored a firearm they'd get 10 years in jail....this guy can carry a firearm, steal from a store, shoot at the security guard, and attempt to fight Police on an aircraft all with a lengthy criminal ...

Re: End the UK madness...
2. Most UK cops have no experience with firearms, so of course they do not support them. I've never met a former UK cop who came to Canada work work in policing who said, "I'd rather I didn't have to carry this gun they issued me here." In fact, they've all said "I can't believe I wa...

That's my thought. If UK cops were clamoring for guns I'd tend to support them, but surely they know what tools they need to do their job?

Re: Judge declares Tory omnibus crime bill unconstitutional
Very misleading thread title. Only a very small portion of the 2008 omnibus bill was declared unconstitutional.
This was only a trial-level decision. When talking about whether laws are unconstitutional lets see what the appellate courts have to say.

Re: R v Gill
What is the penalty for driving unregistered? Or with a suspended license, for that matter? It seems like both are very common (caveat - no personal or professional knowledge of this, but that has never stopped me from saying something before! ). Depends on jurisdiction, of course. Driving with a s...

Especially since it is their right to do it. Exactly. And personally, I think everyone who gets a ticket should have to attend court if it hasn't been paid within 30 days, something like this: You may pay the ticket at any courthouse or government agent office within 30 days. If you would like to r...
Re: R v Gill
I don't do tickets any more, but have in the past. I never get upset if someone is fighting a charge, but just be straight with me about why. If you're fighting it to see if the witness shows up, fine. If you're righting it just to see if I make a mistake, fine. Just save me the histrionics about ho...

Re: Child killer granted day parole.
She was convicted of murder in 1982. She's spend the last 30 years behind bars. There's definitely questions about her release that are outlined in the article. Maybe the Parole Board was right, maybe they weren't. But it's not beyond the pale that a child murdered gets day parole after 30 years in ...
