Re: Peel Regional Police
Hello everyone, I am booked for the circuit and the shuttle run, Can anyone tell me if the shuttle run must be reached stage 7 just like with the TPS ? Also, where can I find the examples of the circuit? I would like to prepare myself for it. I have done TPS Shuttle run and it requires to reach Lev...

Re: Peel Regional Police
So i spoke to the Sergeant today whom is with the recruiting bureau and this is what was said in summary: - Certain people will need to score well above the expected standard to have a shot, but may still get cut regardless - Certain people can fail or fall well below the expected standard and still...

Re: Toronto Police Service
I wouldn't say nepotism. However the picture I paint when talking to some high ranking officers in police services is that in big cities there is currently a shift in hiring. Just look at how much police forces are under political tension. The profile they look for is more oriented towards young, s...

Re: PREP test
Hi! So I just completed the PREP test. Didn’t pass the course but got a 7.5 on the shuttle run. Is there any chance I can move forward in the application process or is there no way until I pass both components? I haven’t received an email yet after the fitness test (did it 2 days ago). Thanks! From...

Re: Ontario Correctional Services
This may have been answered before but I couldn't find it in the thread. Been with OPS for 3 years now and wondering what the process is like switching over to a career as a correctional officer. Would this just be considered a secondment? Thanks If i may ask, why do you want to switch, it usually ...

Re: Hearing Test Fail
So I failed my hearing test (Did not meet standard) but I still got my OACP certificate...Now does this mean that my OACP is no longer valid cause I failed my hearing test? Should I still apply to policing even though I did not meet the hearing standard? But still meet every requirements? Hey broth...

Re: The Sad Truth - Cannot Get Hired - Some Advice and Thanks
It's discouraging to hear people try so hard, improve as hard as they can, and still be deferred. As many of you have mentioned, luck and who you know (nepotism, favouritism) play a big role. I wish I realized how subjective all of this hiring process is so that I would have started working on alte...

Re: Advice on how to strengthen application
Hey guys! I am currently a 22y/o University of Ottawa student studying Communications. The dream here is to become a Police Officer with the TPS or the Ottawa Police Services once I graduate. I graduate from the University in 2021. I am looking into RCMP as well. I've had 5 jobs (all in customer re...

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT
In my opinion, whoever uses Depot as a gateway to join their preferred municipal Police Force, they should be invistigated thoroughly by the agency that they're seeking a job with, in order to determine a persuasive excuse which made them take that decision. Otherwise, if their intention is just to...

Re: Can't even get an interview for Auxiliary
Took me 3 years to get into the service that i was aiming for all along. Some of it is luck. Other times, your competition is too stiff (better education, more life experience, etc). No one can really answer the question.

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT
I never said I was over-qualified for the job, your words. And I know plenty of people who have left jobs at the federal to later apply to some other jobs and who had no issues being hired by different agencies. You make it sound like the Government seeks people who will work for it as soon as they...

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT
So would you say that, for those who are fluent in French (Like myself and I also speak two foreign languages fluently), the chances of landing in C Division after Depot are reasonably high? As someone with considerably more insight into this topic than any of the other people who’ve responded to y...

Re: The Sad Truth - Cannot Get Hired - Some Advice and Thanks
It also took me approximately 3-4 years to get hired by a service. I have noticed a trend; those whom get hired quickly are usually much weaker officers than those who put in the time and were persistent/patient. Just keep at it. I do know a great degree of luck is involved, so be prepared and hope ...
