Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

Currently doing the RMAQ. Just need help answering “have you ever stole anything”. I have never done such behaviour. Out of Curiosity, how specific would I need to be on this question? What??? This is a yes or no question. You say "I have never done such behavior" so your answer is no. What does "s...

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

Curious if the change to dress regarding facial hair will apply to Cadets going through the Cadet Training Program at Depot? Not that it's a deterrent, as a black male my skin welcomes the change in the event that I get accepted to attend Depot. Can you please expand on this and bring us up to spee...

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

Mosquitoes... Sale of 1-10 in Regina from August until winter.. I got a no fly mosquito zone jacket(Marks work warehouse) and it has worked pretty well! I am seeing if I should buy the shorts too for an added boost. Scale for how bad they are below: South Van island 1.5 Langley/Surrey 1 Calgary 3 W...

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

Hey guys, Just a question for anyone whos recently been to Depot or is there now ... In terms of a pillow should we bring one of our own, or is that even allowed? I noticed it’s not on the list of suggested items to bring... If you like sleeping like crap and ironing a pillowcase every morning don'...

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

Grad is tomorrow. Pretty neat.... I wouldn't be here right now if I decided not to do PRK surgery. Roughly 1/2 a day after my protective contacts were removed I had the epithelium rip open on my right eye. I assure you it was one of the worst pains I had ever felt.. and that's comparing to broken l...

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

Also, I want to mention that I would still get the heating and vision test, while knowing I would fail the vision requirements. However, I will be submitting a note from my doctor that states I am a good candidate for laser eye surgery (which he has previously told me I am, but I like my nerd glass...

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

After graduating, I was still at Depot for two weeks for carbine and IARD. IARD was done on a Friday. Flew to Ottawa Saturday. Going away party Sunday. Packers came Monday, Tuesday I was on the road. I drove to my post which I had to request permission from my NCO on, and staffing as they would be ...

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

Anyone at depot know if there are still sleeping quarters that you share a room? I read on the rcmp website “Cadets live at Depot in individual rooms” just curious if this is true. I read in the FAQ post that there are several different configurations, had this changed? You get three 3/4 walls and ...

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

My friend is currently in Depot, about a 1/3 of the way complete. He drove from Vancouver Island, and has a troopmate who was called Monday evening for a Wednesday start. I am not sure if they covered his driving costs, but I don't think he cared too much be honest. Probably not. It’s worth it in m...

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

Hey This is more for someone at Depot, like MRKB (Mike) or someone else. So I'm trying to get ahead of the game a little bit and be as prepared as possible both physically, mentally and with some of the information that I will be learning already looked at. I'm trying to find the list of 10 codes t...

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

Large enough for a decent sized camera? I'm on the fence about bringing my DLSR (I have a photo/video background). I'd love to capture the journey, but if it's a) not going to fit, and b) won't have time, I'll keep my gear at home. I wonder if they would allow that..perhaps when you have idle time....

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

Hey guys, I had a question I'm hoping someone can help me out with. I have been slowly getting my things together for when I leave in April, (early I know, but I like to have everything prepared and not last minute). The thing I was unsure of was what kind of luggage should I use to bring my things...

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

Congratulations to everyone who has been given a troop! While attending Depot, is there is a break that is long enough to be able to go home? If there is, how far into training is the break? How long is the break? Random question about Depot life - What do you do with your dirty gym clothes and wet...

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

Since there has been posts about fitness and the changes to pare 1 recently I thought I would just throw out something for people to consider. I know the requirement is to get at least 5:30 to not have to retest but that number is ridiculous. Barely getting a 4:45 is ridiculous as well. If you think...

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

Questions for Depot Staff or recently graduated Constables: Is there administration time given for haircuts, medical/dental appointments and such during training days? If so, how are missed classes made up? Thanks. Haircuts are after hours at the base barber shop. Medical appointments are done thro...
