Re: OPP Applicant Updates Thread

I wouldn’t say it makes the process any easier. More accessible for people to apply, but the process is still going to remain just as competitive.

Re: OPP Applicant Updates Thread

There’s one called the 5/4 which makes it so you get every other weekend off, but sometimes you’re doing 2 days and 3 nights in a row. I’m not familiar enough with it to explain.

Re: OPP Applicant Updates Thread

Does anyone have any insight about the following regions? Middlesex, Elgin County, Oxford, Lambton Shores, Huron, and Brant. Thanks in advance! :) I’m posted in Elgin County and absolutely love it. We’re the last detachment in west region still on the 4/4 schedule. Port Stanley is busy during the s...

Re: OPP Applicant Updates Thread

The fitness logs have instructions on them with a link to follow for how to test each component. If you identify fitness as an area that needs to be improved, hold off on applying until you’re confident. You can still keep logs to track and demonstrate progress.

Re: Police Constable Application "Number/Info of Supervisor"

I think a lot of services make extensive demands such as the names and phone numbers of supervisors as a way to test your ability to seek information. If you don't know the name of the person who supervised your volunteer experience, there may be a possibility that the organization kept record of th...

Re: OPP Applicant Updates Thread

The 3 to 6 months is very realistic. In my class of 58 there were only 2 that were longer than 6 months. Keep in mind, this was before removal of COR and the flood of applications so it may be different now.

Re: Post-Secondary Education Options

My choice of post-secondary education had nothing to do with pursuing a career in law enforcement. When I was graduating high school, my goal was to become a military pilot. I did a lot of research on what is required, and even met with a currently serving pilot for more advice. I decided to pursue ...

Re: OPP Applicant Updates Thread

I too love where I ended up (Elgin County OPP) and wouldn't change it. It's a great culture where I am, even as a rookie.

Re: OPP Applicant Updates Thread

I don’t think other applications hinder yourself for OPP. I applied in Oct 2017 and completed the process by January 2018. I applied to CKPS in December 2017 because their application only opened once a year at that time. I then got to background phase of CKPS when my offer from OPP came in. I would...

Re: OPP Applicant Updates Thread

I was in April class last year which also had 58 recruits. They told us that even though they wanted 100 seats filled they wouldn’t lower standards for the sake of making that number.

Re: OPP Applicant Updates Thread

Trying to be my competitive best and finding the OPP fit pin a little daunting at the moment. Just gotta keep putting in the work. What happens if someone doesn't pass the fit pin when they arrive to OPA? Are they sent home immediately or given the chance to improve to retake the test? I'm hoping i...

Re: OPP Applicant Updates Thread

Posting preference was provided before the interview so I could complete it and bring it to the interview. Core and running are simple to improve, do more of each, gradually increasing duration. The gym I used had equipment that supported you on your legs so you could mimic the core endurance test. ...

Re: OPP Applicant Updates Thread

My ex was called becuase I had listed her as a previous person I’ve lived with (as per BGI’s request). When he called her he thought he was calling a roommate and then discovered it was an ex. He thought it was impressive I was willing to list an ex girlfriend for him to talk to. Of course if the re...

Re: OPP Applicant Updates Thread

I am curious just because I want to enroll in a course that is offered on Saturdays, in terms of training at PPA and OPC, is it strictly a Monday to Friday schedule? or are weekends thrown in there? Speaking from the April class from 2018, we had every weekend off. As long as the training process h...

Re: OPP Applicant Updates Thread

My experience was no notification that you’re going to final review, just wait for the call or deferral.

Hard to say what class you’re being considered for. In my class there were people who got offers as late as 2nd week of April for that class.

Good luck
