Re: Union Station TTC Video

The roof in the subway platform area of Union station is very low, barely over six feet high I would guess, and it would be impossible to use a baton there. The guy reverted to what he knew and won the fight, full stop. I fully support the way they handled those two drunken clowns.

Re: TTC Officers - Shocking dilemma.

Yup and you're the coolest security guard on the block. Enjoy your time in the tunnels. I sincerely hope you don't get hurt running to all of those knife calls, gun calls, assist calls, violent crimes in progress calls etc, without the appropriate tools. Just an FYI though. A close friend of mine i...

Re: The end of the TTC S/Cst?????

Keep in mind Dusty, that many of these people hated the specials as they investigated them and their counter parts, resulting in terminations. I'm not downplaying what you are saying, but some have hidden agendas. I hear what you're saying, and I'm aware that there were more than a few employees ch...

Re: The end of the TTC S/Cst?????

CO, I'm not sure how the public has or will be put at risk? Are you speaking from knowledge of actual specific incident(s)? I've got lots of actual specific incidents, as I have lots of firsthand experience policing the TTC. Myself and coworkers have seized firearms, swords, knives, other edged wea...

Re: The end of the TTC S/Cst?????

Dusty, I'm talking about the agreement between the police and TTC that spells out the authority of Specials. I'm not disagreeing that police need to be on the system. In my previous posts, I've even supported the BC model of having a dedicated police service for the TTC. The authority of the former...

Re: The end of the TTC S/Cst?????

Guy, there's nothing grey about police being required to police the TTC. TTC special constable's are never going to be police, therefore, it makes no sense to hire more of them for the same pricetag to taxpayers as police officers. Phase them out over time and replace them with police officers, who ...

Re: The end of the TTC S/Cst?????

To a T, you need to ask yourself, "is everyone else a problem or is it possible that I'm the problem?"

Re: The end of the TTC S/Cst?????

Bcw, you're right, the Tpcu just needs to continue to be tweaked and continue to improve. A brand new police unit needs time and work to get up and running and establish clear guidelines to how business is done. The transit unit has doubled in size and has dealt with everything from bylaw enforcemen...

Re: The end of the TTC S/Cst?????

You keep commenting on the fact that the TTC uses its own revenue to pay for special constables. While the TTC uses money from it's budget to hire them, it does not make a profit, in fact the TTC loses money every year. Considering the fact that specials cost MORE (base salary) than police offiers, ...

Re: The end of the TTC S/Cst?????

This is the part here I'm trying to point out to you. If you can have 10 Fully armed POs or 10 Fully armed POs plus 10 S/Csts, which is the choice you make? It's a no brainer... that's what we mean with more boots = better. You keep thinking there is replacements, no one is suggesting that, we're t...

Re: PM announces The Citizen’s Arrest and Self-Defence Act

But once word gets around that if you get caught all that will happen is a caution by a store keeper or agent of the property, these stores will become a thief's haven. LE should become involved so that the scrotes who are ripping off stores get identified and charged. Most scrotes don't care if th...

Re: The end of the TTC S/Cst?????

Considering that there were about 100 TTC Specials and only about 40 TPS Transit Unit Officers, get used to seeing even less law enforcement on the TTC. Might want to check your fact's skippy, there are 80 coppers in the transit unit. And as you know, that means there's 80 X more awsomeness in the ...
