Re: Ask a Sheriff

Everyone who's interviewing has already been contacted. I'm a peace officer, ex-military, and I have both a degree and a diploma, and I didn't even get an interview, so I have no idea what they're looking for.

Re: Ask a Sheriff

Is it safe to assume that if I haven't heard anything by now I'm out of luck?

Re: Soreness after run

It sounds like it's shin splints if it's above the joint. I suffered from them pretty badly when I started running again, and I wear compression sleeves now which alleviate them completely.

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

I know an NCO who said the new clause about applicants from the western provinces being posted to their home provinces isn't really being honoured because of "operational requirements". Does anyone know if there's any truth to that?

Re: Alberta CVE hiring

Out of curiosity, can CVE officers perform traffic stops on private vehicles? I recently saw a CVE vehicle on the highway with its lights on, stopped behind a minivan, but I wasn't sure if they had pulled it over or if they just stopped to help someone in trouble.

Re: Ask a Sheriff

Any word on hiring? I figured the RCMP's surge in recruitment would suck up at least a few Sheriffs. Are competitions always preceded by postings on social media?

Re: *** ASK AN RCMP RECRUITER ***

Thanks for the info. In retrospect, it sounds like I'm unwilling to move, which isn't the case, but it would be a lot easier to not have to sell my house and everything. I was already expecting to go wherever I'm posted, but after being told that I might get some kind of consideration for my current...

Re: *** ASK AN RCMP RECRUITER ***

I'm from Alberta, and I only applied to the RCMP after they changed the policy so that recruits from the west can return to their home provinces because of my family situation; I'd be fine going anywhere in Alberta, it would just be a lot easier to not have to uproot my family if at all possible, an...

Re: *** ASK AN RCMP RECRUITER ***

- what accommodations are given, if any, to applicants with family - career and a kid that's going to start school in 2017 I'm also curious about this; a current member told me that efforts are usually made to keep recruits with families and houses near their hometowns, with the obvious caveat that...

Re: Calgary Police Service

I was deferred a few months ago after my BGI, and my file manager said I would be receiving a letter with information regarding the deferral and the re-application process. I never received the letter, and she won't return any of my calls or e-mails, so hopefully someone on here can answer some ques...

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

I submitted my SP in June, it took six weeks before it was opened, it took another six weeks before my RMAQ call, and now I've been waiting six weeks to find out if I'm moving on to the PEP. I contacted my file manager, and she just said she should be hearing something soon; at this rate, I don't th...

Re: Ask a Sheriff

Does hiring happen on a fairly regular basis, or is it pretty arbitrary depending on need? I'm trying to figure out when to schedule my PARE, and I don't want to wait so long that I miss the next round or so early that it expires before hiring starts.
