Re: Ask a Sheriff

So someone who has done traffic for years shouldn't think himself qualified to make traffic unit in a reasonable amount of time? I'm not trying to offend anyone or disparage the duties of law court sheriffs but the experience gained from it isn't relevant to the specific job of surveillance. I've n...

Re: Ask a Sheriff

And I was wrong when I said I was qualified right this moment, I meant to say after the academy, field training and a reasonable amount of time on the job. I don't mean to sound cocky and just wanted to know the process for surveillance positions.

Re: Ask a Sheriff

Uh oh....get ready for it. I can't wait.... Interesting comments... But in reality budd . You don't know what the Sheriffs do. Just because that one sheriff is in the court and that's his title. Could be doing extra training provided by the agency, could be highly recommended and has proven himself...

Re: Ask a Sheriff

I didn't say I'd be putting minimal effort into the job until I reach my goal. I'm a hard worker and I don't think being ambitious is a bad thing. I assume you've heard a question like mine 100 times, but I think that my experience sets me aside from your average applicant with dreams of doing stake...

Distance learning Police Studies in Canada?

I'm looking into getting a diploma via distance learning while I'm working full time. So far Lethbridge College looks like the most promising, but does anyone have some input on any other Canadian accredited institutions that offer a distance police studies/criminal justice diploma?

Re: Ask a Sheriff

Excellent, thanks^ And if anyone knows, for the position of surveillance sheriff, is post secondary usually required? In a situation where they're not particularly hurting for people. I have 3 years of physical surveillance experience as a private investigator but if I'm going the Sheriff route I wa...

Re: Ask a Sheriff

Is the salary negotiable based on experience? What % of your day is devoted to access control?
And do they still have you stay in the dorms if you live out of town?

At a career crossroads

If anyone has worked as a Community Peace Officer AND a Sheriff, this question is mainly for you but anyone is welcome to give insight. I'm currently 6 years out of high school with no post secondary but a good amount of relevant experience. 1 year as a level 2 CPO with an organization I do not thin...
