Re: LPS New Cruiser Design
Just because agencies are switching to black and white doesn't mean they are "giving in", and I'll note they aren't doing it for cost-savings either. The whole reason they went away from black and whites in the first place was to save from having to repaint every car after it came from the...

 - Being seen at night: Frig, people drive into emergency vehicles lit up like a frig'n Christmas festival. It is obvious that white cars with all sorts of reflective decals doesn't do a damned thing to stop that. Humans can simply be dim witted wonders when it comes to driving towards emerge...

Re: LPS New Cruiser Design
Why do police need good looking cars? Simple, civic pride and unit pride. It's the same reason we have nice government funded anything, from our country's flag, to buildings, parks, government letterhead, licence plates, etc. And there's nothing wrong with a police officer having in pride in his uni...

Re: How many Police Cruisers are in Canada?
Depends on what's defined as a police vehicle. The 2011 OPP Fleet 4,055 vehicles were managed and deployed, throughout the OPP, by the Fleet, Supply and Weapons Service Bureau including: 1,551 Frontline Patrol Vehicles 117 All-Terrain Vehicles 129 Boats 145 Motorized Snow Vehicles 84 Motorcycles 2,...

Re: How many Police Cruisers are in Canada?
Yeah, I don't think there are 24,000 a year bought in Canada.
For one, how do you define police cruisers? Is that marked cars only, or any vehicle?
There are roughly 60,000 police officers in Canada. I would think that total vehicle strength would be somewhere in the neighbourhood of 15,000.

Re: Albuquerque Police Department Dodge Charger Pursuit DWI
That's the problem with using turn signals and brake lights etc. is that you lose the function those were already there for. I want a police car where my signals work so traffic knows where I'm trying to get to.

Definitely a different set-up. I'd be curious to know what the light looks like from a distance in the pitch black.

Re: 2012 Dodge Charger Police Pursuit Vehicle awesome
Wouldn't it be fairly simple to have a switch on the control panel marked "day/night".....just select the "day" option for brighter LEDs during the day and flip it over to "night" for a dimmer (but still more than bright enough) setting for nights? That's what RCMP car...

Re: 2012 Dodge Charger Police Pursuit Vehicle awesome
In fact, they went to the trouble of installing auto-dimmers on our vehicles that cut the light output of our 2nd gen LEDs because some brass was of the opinion that they were TOO bright at night I wouldn't disagree with that. Most LEDs are too bright at night. The RCMPs are dimmable, barely, but i...

Well the only thing I can compare it to was an Impala. I'd sooner walk than drive another Impala for work. I thought the Crown Vics were great.

Both the 'Stang and Maseratti are WAY cool, but again...2 doors?! May as well be on a rocket sled! It is like when a pooch chases down a passing vehicle - once you catch up, NOW what? Oops, my bad - just noticed the rear doors on the trident-badge; Chive On! Stick with the LE Pursuit / Interceptor ...

Re: Man, ticked off at police, crushes fleet of cars
When a drunk falls down the stairs, I laugh. Sure, someone might see that and be appalled at that, and would point out the sad state of society and how this person suffers from a drinking problem because of his upbringing and how terrible I would laugh at his misfortune, blah blah blah... And they w...
