Re: Honest opinion about my past.

Yeah these are the only two things I have done in my past that concern me for my application and I know I will have to disclose my online account which I am comfortable doing and knew beforehand. I have contacted my old school in regards to the suspension so I could get the full details again, that...

Hey guys, long time lurker, first time poster. I know the answer to my question will vary and I really appreciate your time reading my situation and providing me your honest opinion about the situation of my past affecting my chances in a career as a police constable. Re: BC Corrections CVSA

Hi everyone, I've been lurking the forums here for a while but just registered today as I have a question. I am currently in the recruitment process for a BC Correctional Officer position. I was wondering if anyone here has completed the CVSA for BC Corrections? The thing I am most worried about is...

Re: Ask A BC Sheriff

When you say "higher risk", what are you referring to? My inexperience in Law Enforcement and my stereotyping of the job would think Corrections would be higher risk? Thankfully, BCSS, CVSE, BC Corrections are all going to be at JIBC tomorrow, so I'm hoping to have lots of questions answe...

Re: Ask A BC Sheriff

Anyone know if you take the SOPAT though the LEPAT contractor where to send the certificate he gives you? In the e-mail it just says you will be contacted if you pass. But since the LEPAT guy isn't involved in sheriffs where should I send the scans and or hard copies? When I took an official test w...

Re: Vancouver Police Department Questions

They just started a class for RM who got sworn in last week. I don't know for certain, but from what I hear, the next class will be in the 4th Quarter. As for CSO - this program's future seems to be undecided still. Hopefully an answer comes soon. Traffic and Jail lost some members to the RM proces...

Re: Vancouver Police Department Questions

Does anyone have info on jail/CSO/traffic recruitment? I heard they're putting a class through in February (although don't know for sure). Anyone know when the next one would be?

Re: Distance learning Police Studies in Canada?

Your suggesting a course with basically zero human interaction to help you get a job that is largely based on people skills? You'd be better off getting a part time Mcjob to get competencies and make some extra beer money. Yet sitting in a lecture with 499 other students is good "human interac...

Re: Vancouver Police Department Questions

Oh, you're sure that's the question they will ask? Have you been through the VPD process?[/quote]

Yep. It gives you a list of drugs and makes you check off which you've used. And then after asks for the circumstances, dates, number of times, etc.

Thanks for your reply LCC, I'll try and see where i can volunteer here in this tiny city lol. Also do any of you know about their drug use policy? Re: Ask A BC Sheriff

Corrections is a good gig, not going to lie. Especially if you can get into Ford Mountain, that is the easiest job you'll ever have hands down. i'm leaning towards the sheriffs department because I would rather be in court and out in public then locked up in a jail for ever. Plus i heard that the s...
