Ottawa Police Service experienced police officer

Hey, (Sorry...not too sure if it's the right section)

Just wondering if anyone know if Ottawa Police is planning on hiring experienced police officer in the near future? Any number? The reason I ask is that I heard rumors that they were now mostly just hiring new recruits.

Thanks

Re: GENERAL RCMP APPLICANT CHIT CHAT

Hey guys...I submitted my package about 2 weeks ago, and got a letter a few days later stating my vision didn't meet the requirements. I obviously knew this was coming and that I'd need corrective surgery, so that was fine. I had the consultations, booked a date for surgery, and submitted the confi...

Re: RCMP and Vaccination

RCMP probably has the same attitude towards vaccinations as the military - If you're not deployable, you're not employable. As a federal and largely international police agency, the RCMP probably wants all of it's operational staff to be available for any travel at any moment...meaning lots of vacc...

RCMP and Vaccination

Hi, Does anyone know if the RCMP require you to get any kind of vaccines at depot or for the work? They asked me to bring my vaccination booklet (never ask for this at the medical exam). I'm not a big fan of vaccines and never took any...so I was wondering if it a .."you take it or your out...o...

Re: Tips/Advice

What are the best tips, advice, or suggestions you can recommend to someone joining the police service? It's been my dream to become a police officer with preferably the Toronto Police Service (or surrounding police services) since I was 8 years old. I'm now more serious than ever about joining the...

Re: RCMP Re-engagement policy

I think a lot of it depends on why you left. A guy quit my detachment a few months into RFT but I know if he wanted to come back our OIC would recommend against it - they feel he just wasn't cut out for the job, and had he stayed he may not have made it through RFT anyway. How long is RFT? What hap...

Re: How to remind rcmp division ?

It's pretty much straight memorization, if you really feel the need to learn it before you get there then get a piece of paper and a list and start copying it over and over again. Or you could do it the easier way and wait til you actually get to depot, since you will usually get to know people fro...

Re: Hired!

There's not really much you can study before you go, other than make sure you know your phonetic alphabet. If you know your 10-codes it'll help. If not, make a point of learning them in the first week or two (they'll give you a list when you get there). Stuff to work on before you go: you should be...

How to remind rcmp division ?

Hi everyone,

I have been told to study the rcmp history and division before going to depot. I was wondering if anyone have found an easy way to remind division letter vs province?

Also for people who went to depot is there anything in the rcmp history that I should focus on?

Regards,

Re: Hired!

Yup. Graduated March 23, did my PRIME training (for BC) March 24-25, flew home on Mar 26th, started work on Mar 29th! It's been awesome so far. I was fortunate to get posted back to the Lower Mainland, I only have a 15-minute commute from where I live. Depot was tough, the hardest part was being aw...
