Re: Surrey Community Patrol Officers

It's a "up to" 14 month project that rcmp execs have said to kibosh as its expensive and ineffective. Doesn't sound promising for job security... good for someone young looking to apply as a rm within a year.

Re: Global TV show 16X9, Sat March 28

I also liked how neutral it came across. There didn't appear to be a political agenda or be the normal media blood-thirst type reporting. Very black and white, trying to get answers.

And people will still wonder why there is a "militarization" of police.

Not sure what part of my comment you're referring to here but when I said out of kids reach I didn't mean alone, but I could imagine all the false alarms if it was at a height for kids even with parents sitting there.

Re: Crime Prevention Society

I agree. I live in Toronto and can say that volunteer police patrolling the transit would not be a good idea here. I imagine it would be the same in B.C. Special constable or Police constables are needed, with full training, equipment, and backup. The transit system can be a dirty and dangerous pla...

Re: Firearm Licensing

For a small or average sized group, the CFSC is 12 hours minimum. The CRFSC, if taken immediately after the CFSC can be as short as 6 hours. (This does NOT include coffee, lunch or testing.) Any less, and you are not getting your money's worth. Research your choices where you go very carefully. The...

I am about to graduate from SFU in B.C. with a BA in Criminology. Does anyone in the Vancouver area know where a good place is to get firearm certified i.e. for applying to the CBSA?

Thanks,

Re: 5.11 Tactical Stryke Pants

The Taclites are amazing. Find I'm wearing them more and more on the daily. I've ordered them from Amazon.com and just jumped the border to pick them up from a mailbox. No duty, ever actually, and only $3 for the box. I think they were about $40-50 each.

Re: 9 year old shoots gun instructor at range!!!

I felt a little different after watching the short clip leading up to the shot. I assumed they just gave her a gun and stood behind her but the video shows he had two hands on her, one on her back and his left on her support arm. I think it was just a freak accident that she lost grip and his attemp...

A message from a CGN Moderator - Public side

Saw this and thought I'd bring it over. Full thread here: m Fellow CGN members. Police issues. Cop bashing is already specifically mentioned as not being allowed, yet we see this repeated over and over again. Yes, there have been some high profile cases of police abuse, but the vast majority of poli...

Re: 9 year old shoots gun instructor at range!!!

Full auto may be crazy without someone else holding on but teaching kids to shoot isn't (IMO). My kid will learn to shoot by 3. Look up Tori Nonaka. Been shooting since she was 3 and now travels the world on Team Glock. Some parents teach their kids golf or baseball... We like shooting. Simple gun s...
