Re: CSC/Prov Corrections

Why does it take years for Alberta to send it's members to the training college? Budget cuts. There's only so many instructors and only so much room at the Academy. They've cut almost every training class down to 2 per year max, and that's for Correctional POs, Community POs and Alberta POs (Sherif...

Re: warm fun place to go

My brother and his wife just came back from Turks and Caicos. They said it is literally "Heaven On Earth" - way more peaceful than Mexico and Cuba, no harassing beach or street vendors, all very well spoken and polite. Their economy is 100% Tourism so they cannot afford to lose, well... To...

Re: Soft Shell outerwear

Where I work, we have ours supplied by

CSE Limited absolutely outstanding quality (but it does come with a price). Made to specification.

Other agencies have theirs provided by Stormtech.

**Had to snip out the link for the above mentioned company... Google is your friend!** RW

Re: Under armour boots

To be honest with you, don't bother. https://oakleyforces.ca/program $300+ boots, with confirmed I.D... $60 after shipping. Best boots I've ever had for under $300 (apart from the Danner Fort Lewis that I've had for 6 years. Longest lasting boot) Yes, you'll have to wait for confirmation and shippin...

Disregard this post. Carswell followed through, they just didn't give me notice that it had shipped.

Re: Armed "Community Constables"?

I'm really skeptical. The hiring process and training programme better be out-friggin-standing.

Re: Armed "Community Constables"?

It's not likely that they'll be armed with service pistols either. Baton and/or OC Spray at the minimum. Even here in Alberta our Community Peace Officers are hard pressed in most areas to just get OC added beyond their baton let alone a service pistol, especially after the brutal murder of CPO Rod ...

Re: Pants, different coloured stripes, and the meaning of it

They are now stripeless. They've been stripped of their stripes? Yep. I believe it was due to new Security Regs in the Province Prohibiting coloured stripes, other than reflective silver. Ontario did the same a few years ago. Strangley enough, they took away the stripes, but allow companies to issu...

Re: Worth pursuing training on own time?

I know that it pretty much universally accepted that since police forces train their recruits to their own standards it isn't worth pursuing any sort of certifications and whatnot, but I was wondering if this is true for all law enforcement? Non police LE seem to receive less rigorous and lengthy t...

Re: Pants, different coloured stripes, and the meaning of it

The RCMP maintain a yellow stripe because it represents their days as a cavalry/dragoon regiment.

Martin's Criminal Code POLICE EDITION

I am looking for a Martin's Criminal Code Police Edition for a Community Peace Officer training course. I have attempted to order from Carswell directly but their customer service is pretty bad. Does anyone know of a place I could get one that is 2012 or newer in Alberta?

Thanks.
