Re: Applying to Correctional Service Canada

I need advice and hope that some experts can guide me in the right direction. I accepted an email of interest last week and I am so excited and ready to start planning for August 22nd training in Kingston, but I don't want to jump the gun and move too fast. Should I be waiting for further confirmat...

Re: Applying to Correctional Service Canada

Any tips for this first test? Lots of material to go over from the assignments No one can give any specifics for any of the tests in CTP 3 but honestly just study and know the sections you were told to complete and you'll be fine - if something seems important then chances are you'll be tested on i...

Re: Applying to Correctional Service Canada

So heres a question; For the Hepatitis A&B shots or Twinrix does the government provide that for you during training or will you have to get that done on your own time? I don't feel like spending the ~$200 unless I have to. Nothing has made mention to this in the training package Regards, It's ...

Re: Applying to Correctional Service Canada

I receive the instructions for stage 2 today .. about how long did it take to complete? And how in depth are you expected to go with answers? Is it OK to copy/paste out of the slide show when answering or do they expect it to all be reworded? Can't remember exactly how long it took...not nearly as ...

Re: Applying to Correctional Service Canada

Hello Everyone, I received my conditional letter of offer yesterday for Saskatchewan Penitentiary. I am very excited to attend CTP 3 training on May 30th in Kingston, Ontario. My question is, do we wait until CSC sends us an email to complete our CTP 2 assignments, or do we log into the portal and ...

Re: Applying to Correctional Service Canada

I drove 6 hours home for 10 out of 12 of the weekends I was at CTP. The mental break was much needed. If you can find a car pool partner and study in the car it’s even better. Flash cards work great in the car. Ya getting that mental break is very important. You'll have assignments to do over the w...

Re: Applying to Correctional Service Canada

Ok good to know! I am planning on driving, it’s 11 hours but I want my vehicle while there. Another question I had was about traveling home on weekends (It is only 1.5 flight). Is this allowed? I have young kids and I am hoping it will be possible to travel home a few weekends for quick trips. Shou...

Re: Applying to Correctional Service Canada

Aside from the obvious .. is there anything specific that is recommended for Stage 3 to pack/wish you would have packed? Honestly I would just pack the essentials...especially if you're flying since you have limited baggage space. Once you get to Kingston there will be people with vehicles and you ...

Re: Applying to Correctional Service Canada

I see people are still receiving emails of interest, is there a cut off date for receiving these, when the CTP3 starts May 30? Probably be cut off pretty soon for the end of May CTP...when I was going through the process they were giving roughly 3-4 weeks between the initial offer/getting the Stage...

Re: Applying to Correctional Service Canada

I just wanted to update something I posted earlier. E-Mail came today stating we ARE to e-mail the CTP 2 Assignments back to them by 27 May 18. Looks like they updated the Law and Policy Assignment. I will have to redo that one (d'oh). Looking forward to meeting y'all on the 30th. Make sure that yo...

Re: Applying to Correctional Service Canada

Does anyone know what the accommodations are in Kingston? Private rooms or open dorm setting? I thought I had read a way earlier post that mentioned a lot of the training academy in Kingston had been disassembled. It was quite a while ago. from what I've heard around my joint is that they're appare...

Re: Applying to Correctional Service Canada

Question about boots. Are we allowed to have 8 inch boots or just 6 inch like it states in the CD 351-1. I read the past posts, seems like a lot of people said they wear the 5.11 ATAC Shield. For those of you working, what kind do you prefer? Much appreciated, -C whatever you end up buying just rem...
