Re: Applying to Correctional Service Canada

I emailed recruitment and let them know that I would like to defer until a later time as I couldnt give training 100% m...

Re: Applying to Correctional Service Canada

Hey Striker, I've read your posts about PTSD and your unfortunate post of 2 CO's committing suicide in a week. I'm curious to know if the help.. helps. Does CSC give time off while CO's are seeking help or is it on the job counselling? There are no set in stone protocols because everyone is differe...

Re: Applying to Correctional Service Canada

Don't think like that. Hammer down and focus on the training. Read your notes at night but also make sure to spend time as a group CTP! Make sure you work as a team! Don't get into trouble everyone is watching you, especially off the property. Eyes everywhere. can see that far from 1 Tower, eh?

Re: PTSD and you.

It's mandatory for Ontario services. I'm an instructor for it at our college and we are working to get the staff who didn't receive it at OPC (around 5000) trained within the next 2 years. We run 2/3 classes a week. It's good to see even senior constables taking it seriously. I'm a huge proponent o...

Re: Applying to Correctional Service Canada

We lost 2 Correctional Officers to suicide in the last week. All you folks that are applying or have been accepted need to do some soul searching and ask yourself if you are prepared to accept the possibility you may suffer a mental health injury due to your career choice. CSC has become more pro-ac...
