Re: Researching OPP for television script

I would never have thought about cops renting cars for investigations but I guess it would make sense. Do you guys get flack for not getting the best deals or is there a specific company that the force would get a discount with? Our office rented a cube van for a search warrant once, and we just pi...

Re: Researching OPP for television script

One interesting element to add to a realistic story is what we call the "CSI Effect." This is when every citizen expects every crime, no matter how small, to be solved in 42 minutes. Fingerprints can be lifted off any surface; only the perpetrators touch objects, and DNA results will tell...

Re: Researching OPP for television script

Hi guys, Not sure if this was the right category in which to post this but here goes. I'm a writer working on a spec script for a television show I'd like to develop. One of the characters is an OPP officer and I would appreciate any help in order to make the depiction as realistic as possible. I h...

Re: Cops VS Fireman..the reality.

Fire has just done a better PR job than any other public service agency. I think y'all just jealous. My paramedic buddy mocks the fire guys and their "circle of life" I have a friend who is a paramedic. In some stations they share the facility with the bucket heads. The EMS staff are not ...

Re: Badges issued to Police Service Dogs

Well Dave they need to swear the dog in as a witness to so he needs the proper credentials.... Especially if the defence needs to cross examine them on the basis of their statements, such as this one: http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2013/02/16/article-2279789-17A08A7D000005DC-120_634x813.jpg

What's a vest? Mine expired and I've been waiting over a month for a new one.

Re: CBSA air-mode Officers armed but not carrying

Not to mention the cost of replacing pistols every three years. In every other agency, pistols are designed to last the career of the officer. Heck, even in Pete's time, the revolver they first gave him during the march west was still good for as long as he could still get gunpowder, balls and perc...

Re: Interesting Article On Badges

CBSA did wear badges for a few years after we got vests around 2000. Not sure exactly when we stopped. I agree with Apollo; put the Durham crest on that badge in place of the flag and it's a winner. Stopped about 4 years ago maybe? From what I gather it was an OSH issue to do with shrapnel. Utter n...

Re: Border Security Canada: Episodes Now Online

Torrents. I honestly can't watch some of that scripted shit without wanting to vomit! Of course, the gold medal goes to PIA. I have been on the show a few times. I have never seen a script. No, but the postal scenes are clearly recreated. I can't imagine an expensive production crew sitting around ...

Re: Badges issued to Police Service Dogs

When I worked on the primary line at the airport I would frequently see all kinds of Americans with all kinds of badges. Even judges, and yes police officer's spouses, retired officers, court reporters, police mechanics, fire truck washers, ambulance bandage stockers, etc., etc.

Here are some very professional loss prevention guys involved in a takedown after a knife was pulled m The guy in the black is seriously lucky there... If that POS had something other than a exacto blade with a rounded tip he could have been in big trouble I think the shitrat wasn't able to extend ...

Re: online degree in terrorism and counter terrorism

Don't forget that if you're seeking a degree outside of Canada and plan to use it in Canada, your employer will likely require you to have its equivalency assessed. While equivalency shouldn't be a problem for most RA schools, some cheaper NA schools also offer degrees that will be considered equiva...

Re: Another fine example of CBSA leadership

Believe me when I say that the Tories are on the side of all front line public service workers, especially those within the LE community. Except when they want to take away my sick time, offer me a bullshit 0.5% increase, and generally tell the public how much public servants milk the system while ...

Re: Another fine example of CBSA leadership

Under no circumstances should these types of requests be granted, period. Some years back, I recall a female BSO calling me (there was as usual no supt. in the secondary area at the time) over for assistance in dealing with a male passenger arriving from an unmemorable country who demanded service o...
