Re: OPP chooses new sidearm: Glock 17
Good move, in my opinion. Glocks are excellent service pistols, and the newest generation with interchangeable grips have been great for fitting officers. 9mm is a good choice as well. Nearly equivalent terminal ballistics to other calibers, more capacity, lower recoil. All around, a good call for t...

Re: Benelli Shotgun
What's your intended use for the 12ga? You said waterfowling but also listed the Tactical shotgun in there, which tells me you might be considering using it for playing at the range as well. If you're remotely considering shooting birds with it, get a Supernova. The 3.5" chamber will be an adva...

Re: Will British Columbia adopt Community Peace Officers?
As previously stated. Bylaw/minicipal law enforcement/ etc ARE already peace officers. Previous court rulings (yes multiple) only serve to solidify that fact. Now specific legislation provincially is a different story. I'm not too familiar with the province of British Columbia, however the Alberta ...

Re: Guns, an investment.
On the topic of buying guns, It's a dangerous time to buy semi-auto's. I know a guy who just bought a Tavor and I cringed a bit inside. I guess a stripped AR receiver wouldn't hurt if you don't have one yet, but I wouldn't gamble thousands of dollars on the current government following previous ones...

Re: S&W 5946 R.I.P
Sounds pretty much like how I heard it. Still not going to say that I know what went on. However, pretty rich that you would call me lazy for a hypothetical lack of secure gun box access, when that guy ran in to a cell block with a loaded operable firearm. Yup ... I can see you just want to curtail...

Re: S&W 5946 R.I.P
Hi Power is right that I don't know the full story. Some of my best instructors used to always say during a demonstration of side-arm retention or any compromising position you find yourself in, ask yourself this question "how the f#*k did I let myself get into this situation?" So my ques...

Re: S&W 5946 R.I.P
Let me just say that magazine disconnects are the stupidest feature ever invented in handguns. As a court officer who doesn't have time to dump his sidearm when going into a cell block in a rural town, the magazine disconnect isn't all that bad of an idea. Considering an Albertan Sheriff got shot w...

Re: AR15 petition
We need to challenge this variant garbage yes we do..but with the gov't giving total control to the "firearms experts" in the RCMP..it will be a never ending fight. What we need is the "common sense panel" to review any decisions made by these so called "firearms experts&qu...

Re: AR Operating System
DI is perfectly fine. Piston guns were a fad that flourished when engineers made a reasonable attempt to improve the AR action, and marketing noticed that people will buy anything that's "different enough". I'd consider it a failed experiment. The marginal increase in cyclical reliability ...

I dunno. This is an "official" petition, recognized by the gov't...if that makes any difference.
That means it gets debated in Parliament. That's it.

Re: From the Book of Dave Brown
How does one mount the Velcro to the side of the receiver? Is it just stick-on, or is it a panel that screws on that has Velcro on it? Dave, how are the shell carriers that mount to the receiver of the 870 with the takedown pin holes? I think a few companies make them. Any recommendations for the b...

Re: Bill C-42 ATT Condition
As of Sep 2, 2015 the new provisions for a restricted ATT came into force. A huge step towards eliminating useless paperwork and red tape for legal firearm owners. Or not... 'Looks like now I need to call and get an STATT every time I want to take my wife's pistol to the range. Prior to Sept. 02 LT...

Re: From the Book of Dave Brown
Haha, nice trick with the Star. We had a few converted magazines kicking around that seemed to work alright with them, but of course they're extra $$. To contribute to the thread, my bird gun (and lately, my 3-gun competition gun) is an 870 Wingmaster from the early 60's. My grandma gave it to my gr...

I don't agree - I'm no high speed competitor but it feels like a significant improvement to me. I'd say it's just an objectively better trigger, but everyone has to weigh the cost/benefit for themselves.
