Canadian Correctional Services (Provincial and Federal)

With the escape from the Quebec provincial prison in Saint Jerome, I think it would be a cool idea for Blue Line to run an article on the Canadian federal and provincial systems, some of the technology and training used to prevent prison escapes and a history of some of the greatest escapes in Canad...

Re: Ontario Correctional Services

4984 applicants! 320~ of which will move on to the next stage of the process... No surpise I think any employer offering up decent paying jobs would have been flooded with applicants... I imagine a significant number of the initial apps will be put aside due to a litany of reasons... Inelligable pe...

Re: Ontario Correctional Services

4984 applicants! 320~ of which will move on to the next stage of the process... just for the hell of it, and if i'm not wrong, this is a: 6.42% chance of moving on to the next stage 1.8% chance of hire That is a large number of applications. Will be interesting how the process works itself out.

Re: OPP Applicant Updates Thread

I would like to apologize for my comments that were directed at Toonces and the other posters. After re-reading my post from this morning and the comments from the fellow posters that followed, I was truly incorrect in my assessment of the comments that were provided. There isn`t an excuse for the c...

Re: OPP Applicant Updates Thread

Out of all so far posting in the last few posts who has been professional and helpful is the other applicant spooky. Hopefully he does well in the application process.

Re: OPP Applicant Updates Thread

I spoke to the homicide Sgt, and he said, there is no budget anywhere in Ontario. All municipal departments are broke which has been shown with Toronto scrapping everything except their 80 from December and Hamilton not getting their requested budget increases. So as far as he can see it is based of...

Re: Ontario Correctional Services

Where you live (address on application) does not impact on your standing in the recruitment process. It may matter though once you're hired and then wish to apply for a posted opportunity somewhere other than where you're at. Many, if not all internal postings include the disclaimer that goes somet...

Re: OPP Applicant Updates Thread

Exactly. They just put you in the pool for 2 years, don't hire you (because there's no money), then you start over again. You were deferred for a reason. Only you know that reason. What do you mean by "put you in the pool for 2 years"? And no I don't know why I was deferred because all I ...

Re: OPP Applicant Updates Thread

Yes, I got my C.O.R. certificate in January from ATS. I'm disappointed, but I researched some of the old threads on Blue Line with other persons being deferred right out of the gate on the application. Hopefully, it is based off of budget and looking for specific requirements (laterals and other hea...

Re: OPP Applicant Updates Thread

My question actually is that even count as a deferment to put on an O.A.C.P. application form. I thought if you got to say, a written test, or an interview and failed that is what counts as a deferment, not your opening application?

Re: OPP Applicant Updates Thread

I don't know, hopefully not. I put in my application in as I know a Sgt who works Homicide who informed me that right now because of budgets the O.P.P. is only accepting transfers from other Police Services and persons with Police Foundations. I figuring that I am currently doing Police Foundations ...

Re: Ontario Correctional Services

Put in my application for Ontario corrections at the Toronto South Detention Facility. Does anyone who is Ontario Corrections know if the location you live from might effect your application? Because right now I live in the Niagara region, would they overlook me if they have hundreds or thousands of...

Re: OPP Applicant Updates Thread

I got that on the 1st, but on the 4th I got an actual O.P.P. recruiter send me an e-mail stating that they were processing my application at this time and that they would let me know if I was to move onto the next stage.

Re: OPP Applicant Updates Thread

I put my application into the O.P.P. on March 1st and received confirmation that they received it and were reviewing in on March 4th. I guess especially as other posters have mentioned concerning the budget crunches, no May OPC, my application should be processed but it is not going to be in a hurry...
