Re: Opioids - Naloxone

Surprised its not available like an epi-pen.. The spray version is just as effective as the IM version, it's just significantly more expensive. The nasal spray we have is 4x more powerful than the injection, thats about the only difference. We were told during training that once a naloxone injectio...

Re: Opioids - Naloxone

I'm curious--just as an informal poll--for those of you who are carrying Narcan in whatever form, does your service have a policy on who it's for? Just for you/other members or are their guidelines for administering it to the public if you're there before the paramedics?

Re: New RCMP staffing policy

The pay is less for the first 6 months only. From the 6 month to pre-3year range, RCMP gets paid more than TPS. The top pay is higher for some municipal services after 4-5 years, but not drastically. If you compare Vancouver to the RCMP, VPD is a couple K/yr ahead at each step (including the full s...

Re: RCMP softshell jacket

http://www.fellfab.com/military/rapid-response-fleece/. Another good company to talk to is CSE Limited in Calgary. They build amazing stuff and build it for a multitude of agencies including the RCMP, CPS ect. I had them build me some gear and it has been top notch. I have a fleece from Cascade Wea...

Re: VPD Recruitment Permanently Closed File

Perhaps you see your personal history incidents as minimal, but Vancouver Police are not minimizing these issues? I guess that could be, I thought honesty supersedes lying or not even trying. Yes, honesty does supersede lying, but if you're honest about being a contract hitman for the HA, were you ...

Re: Vancouver Police Department Questions

Hi - I am just wondering if anyone has applied to VPD from out of province, and gone through the process or part of the process? If so, do they try to streamline the process for you as much as possible? Or will you be expected to make your way to Vancouver for each step? (Approximately 8 different ...

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

My only gripe with the permanent resident being able to apply for the RCMP is that it is a national police force which obviously contains departments that have to deal with National Security. I dont know the full process in detail to becoming a citizen but I know to become RCMP it states you have t...

Re: Wtf rcmp hiring....???

Obviously I have no inside scoop, but how I read the article, it sounds like they're ditching the PARE as part of the initial application. Once you're through the the interview and background, then you have to submit a PARE certificate. I could be wrong, but that's how I'm reading it. Edit: Just rea...

Re: Vancouver Police Department Questions

This whole process is weird for me because back home they would love to hire a guy who's life experience consists in small "law breakings" like doing drugs and having a kinda shady background (not saying they're hiring junkies and murderers) but their logic is pretty much that a "cri...

Re: RCMP First Aid Applicant Requirement

For the application process the RCMP states it requires a First Aid Level 3 and CPR Level C certificate, does this certificate have to be presented during the initial application process, or is it required that you only get the First Aid certificate if you are selected for the cadet training progra...
