Re: Ottawa Police Applicants

I got to the final review and was deferred. The whole process took a few years for one reason or another. I'm pretty confident it was not enough volunteering that sunk me at the end. Pretty devastating but I'll try again in May. I'm glad this is being revived though. I'll do what can to engage in th...

Re: Need some direction/advice

Yeah, I had failed the ECI twice before passing this time. The thing that's eating me up a bit is not knowing exactly where to improve. I have a feeling it's lack of volunteering.

Need some direction/advice

So about 4 months ago I was shot down from a service on the final review stage. At the time it was really disappointing but I'm 100% committed to getting a job with this service. I'm not sure how to improve my resume though. I have some ideas and I'm looking for suggestions. I graduated university i...

Re: Brinks vs Garda (G4S) to work for

I get a bit more than $26/hour. The main reasons I'd stay are a). to have a backup plan in case something catastrophic happens during my schooling/training (which likely won't happen) and b). to have something fun for retirement. Mainly reason a). I have a spouse and kids and I prefer to lead my lif...

Re: Brinks vs Garda (G4S) to work for

Yeah, the only real conflict of interest theory I've seen is in regards to if you get robbed. Otherwise... I'm missing it.

Armored gig is fun. Company is always cutting corners, equipment is shit but my coworkers are what makes me want to be there.

Re: Brinks vs Garda (G4S) to work for

If you were hired as a police officer... why would you want to still work as a security guard? I wouldn't be working as a security guard, first off. I enjoy my job and I like my coworkers. Also, in 30 years or so it's a really easy retirement job. The real reason I wanted to keep it was to make sur...

Re: Brinks vs Garda (G4S) to work for

Just heard something (that I later confirmed) that has surprised me. I was told that if I were to get into a police service, it'd be considered a conflict of interest to remain working at GardaWorld. I was always planning on staying on at Garda as casual but I'd need permission from the service to d...

Just a follow up - I had the background interview a few weeks ago. Seems like I passed. :)

Re: Psych interview

If I did fail the psych interview, what happens? Am I side lined for a year so I'll have to redo the ECI as well? Sidelined for 6 months before I retake the psych interview?

Re: Psych interview

how long does it normally take to find out whether or not you passed? I'd guess, at this point, it takes as long as it takes a letter to reach me.

Re: Psych interview

I think there was a lot done to see what I'd do. This interview was for a service in Ontario. I'd prefer not to say specifically which. I just watched the NY video. I dressed professionally, but not in a suit. Oops. I still think I did alright with the rest of it though. I didn't know exactly what t...

Re: Psych interview

I'll keep it vague, just in case. The entire interview was really weird. I showed up for my appointment 20 minutes early and nobody was there. I waited till 3 minutes past my time and then called. The psychiatrist answered and I asked whether or not I was in the right place. They asked for the addre...

Psych interview

I went to a psych interview the other day and had some questions. First off, I didn't see anything anywhere about not speaking about that interview. I assume I'm wrong though so does anyone know whether or not the psych interview can be discussed?
