Re: Going to OPC?? You're in luck what to bring-expect Thread

Anyone have recommendations for a good humidifier that wont break the bank as I have heard the rooms at OPC can be dry?

Re: The Sad Truth - Cannot Get Hired - Some Advice and Thanks

It also took me approximately 3-4 years to get hired by a service. I have noticed a trend; those whom get hired quickly are usually much weaker officers than those who put in the time and were persistent/patient. Just keep at it. I do know a great degree of luck is involved, so be prepared and hope...

Re: The Sad Truth - Cannot Get Hired - Some Advice and Thanks

Thanks guys, appreciate it. It was def a surreal moment because I wasn’t sure this day would ever come. Now I gotta buckle down and make sure I work even harder to show the recruiters that they didn’t make a mistake picking me :) lol

Re: The Sad Truth - Cannot Get Hired - Some Advice and Thanks

I know Mr. Broccolo wanted us to post in agency specific threads but I think bringing this thread back from the dead so other applicants who have not seen it can learn from the advice that it has to offer. Thus Mr. Broccolo if you could show some mercy and not kill my account that would be nice :D ....

Re: OPP Applicant Updates Thread

So a quick search of the OPC brought up that a recruit has tested positive for Covid this week. If any of the recruits have any news of how it is on the ground there we would be interested to hear. The possibility of an outbreak there has always been something that possible future recruits knew cou...

Re: Almost Hired Thread.

August 06th, 2020. Received my deferral letter. Went through BGI, PSYCH, Vision, Hearing, LFI, ECI and bam. Thanks but no thanks try again in a year. No reason was specified which I'm not surprised about. (Hamilton Police) This kicked my ass into gear and I'll probably head back to school... Sorry ...

Re: Failed ECI, what next?

When I did the TPS LFI/ECI back in 2018, if you failed it then you were out with all services that used ECI. Back then you would do both interviews on the same day. ECI first, if you pass they stamp your ATS COR and then you would do LFI. I would email the recruiter they will give you the best answe...

Re: OPP Applicant Updates Thread

Hi All, Can anyone recommend good courses to take on the cpkn.ca website? I have already taken two of the free courses they have (Mental Health Self-Awareness for First Responders and Autism Spectrum Disorder) but I do not want to waste money taking courses that will not help. Thanks Kindly. The on...

Re: Hired!

with OPC going ahead in June...would the various police services know how many seats they would have yet? I'm assuming they would be running reduced numbers for this intake to allow some distancing etc? Don’t think numbers will be reduced. Peel for example was gonna take 45 but increased that numbe...

Guys, I have reached the last stage: final review. My BGI said she uploaded my application for consideration yesterday. She also said that they’re aiming for 100 recruits this next class. So now it’s going to be either a call with an offer or letter of rejection in the mail.
Best of luck

Re: Police services and ATS

I would hold off until the new year applying for ATS. This might be the year it’s gone from all police services. I have it but I highly doubt they are getting rid of it. From a provincial service, it made sense for them dropping it for a variety of reasons. Municipal services will definitely keep t...

Re: OPP Applicant Updates Thread

Effective January 1st, 2019 the OPP is removing COR requirements. Applicants will no longer need to have an COR from ATS. Hired applicants will need to pass the FIT PIN during Week One of the academy. There will be no WCT, PATI, PREP and BPAD. The OPP LFI will remain. Big news. That came out of now...
