TPS 1958

Stumbled across this little NFB film from 1958... 'Interesting to watch and see how much has changed over the decades... I especially noticed the cars. Two door cruisers with no divider... Fold the seat down to put your suspect into the back seat.. lol. 'Classic policeman's uniforms... 'Not the para...

Re: Ontario Correctional Services

Unfortunately, the military needs to take over corrections before it gets any better Lol... Really? From what I can remember the military is where I learned what the term "clusterfuck" really meant. No, what corrections in Ontario needs is to step back and realize is that all the high priced help, ...

Re: Ontario Correctional Services

I said senior staff can be very toxic to other employees, and they have little to no respect for new staff, and proceed to expect full respect in turn. If you think that's how it works, you've got another thing coming. I don't expect to be owed anything, but if you're going to be disrespectful and ...

Re: Ontario Correctional Services

I'd like to hear some hard examples of the rough ride some newbs are getting... It's been my experience, both practiced and observed that senior officers are more than pleasant enough towards the new hires... Me thinks those complaining are a fright too fucking sensitive. Or... did you ever s...

Re: Ontario Correctional Services

But part of the problem is the toxic senior staff that demand respect and have zero respect for new employees. That's not how it works. That actually is how it works. 'Not sure what kumbaya workplace you came from, but... 'round here as a new hire you have to earn it. Sadly there are those who come...

Re: Ontario Correctional Services

Opseu will be gone the next contract. If I’m correct . There is a union from Quebec that is solely made of lawyers ! That’s the union we are trying to get. Well... You're not correct. The "other" group is courting "us"... They have held meetings/info sessions, but the jury is still out on the whole...

'Pretty much... Lol.

...But wait... It'll get worse.

Re: Ontario Correctional Services

The last government sat aside aprx 375 million to fix the crisis in corrections along to give to the new Correctional Services Transformation Act, 2018 Appears the PC government hasn’t spent a dime of that money yet. Good luck. PC has/is actually cutting... As of last week all institutions where di...

Re: Ontario Correctional Services

plus we have MANY officers leaving (most people say roughly 1-2 a week on average are leaving for various reasons like other jobs, quitting , suspensions, transfers, etc..). I don't think they anticipated that aspect at all... I said it pages ago... 'Anyone with any sort of formal education/qualifi...

Re: Ontario Correctional Services

Does anyone know if there's going be a COTA intake for January 2019? I'm pretty sure there is, I don't think Toronto South has a fully staffed building yet I work at the South and I can confidentally tell you we are not even close to fully staffed. 'You think that's due to slow hiring or all the tr...

Re: Ontario Correctional Services

I submit that corrections and policing are different enough to each other that neither is much of an advantage going into the other... Wait, wut... Well you know what I'm trying to say..? I have many police friends who tell me they could/would never do my job (based on what they think it is) And hon...

Re: Ontario Correctional Services

It can go the other way too... We've had a couple new hires who couldn't get the hang of COing, but... got hired into policing somehow. We're left scratching our heads... "if they're too dumb to be a CO... How the hell are they gonna be a cop?" Unless of course even the police have their share of fa...

Re: Ontario Correctional Services

I can see a huge slow down coming in hiring... I think we've reached the saturation point when it comes to new casuals.
I mean hell... In my inst., over the span of two years we went from having literally a handful of casuals to just under one hundred.
