Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

How do cops always know their direction? Whenever I watch a show like cops, I notice that the police always seem to know what direction they are headed (ex. "suspect is heading east on 7th Avenue , turned north on 8th Avenue ."). Even when they are on foot they call out directions on thei...

Re: *** ASK AN RCMP RECRUITER ***

Thanks so much for the replies! I guess that at this point the question is that if they're willing to send someone to a certain province then are they willing to consider an area, if operational needs are satisfied (my case being central Alberta). The story of "they sent me the only place i DI...

Re: *** ASK AN RCMP RECRUITER ***

All applicants, or those thinking of applying, to the RCMP, repeat after me: - I understand that the Force will post me WHEREVER it wants to THROUGHOUT my career; - the Force does NOT need to accommodate me or my family on my first posting after graduating from Depot; - if this is a problem FOR me,...

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

Unique81, thousands have been in your boots before, sold houses while at Depot and made it work, if you get there and pass you will too. RCMP staffing doesn't care if you own a house at any posting, they provide housing in the less than desirable postings for rent and discourage members from buying...

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

Off-topic from the current discussion, but probably helpful to most of us planning our budgets: is the $500 cadet allowance net or gross? Last time i read about that here it was gross (before tax). I doubt it would have change. The offer letter makes no mention of it, but simply states the numbers....

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

"You are under arrest" are 4 pretty big words that can change a lawful apprehension into an unlawful assault pretty quickly. Just sayin'. I was gonna say...final detachment test likely forgot the arrest. As an instructor, get this out as soon as you have the grounds for arrest...in the re...

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

Then why the hell is your flight so shitty? It's one plane. Completely misread my itinerary, as one may say "rookie mistake". I arrive at 12pm but got a layover in calgary. Cab it, easiest thing to do. It's a short drive and then the game begins! I get my 7th new member to train this mont...

Re: *** ASK AN RCMP RECRUITER ***

- what accommodations are given, if any, to applicants with family - career and a kid that's going to start school in 2017 I'm also curious about this; a current member told me that efforts are usually made to keep recruits with families and houses near their hometowns, with the obvious caveat that...

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

It was a deferral, can't apply again until November 2017. Needless to say, I am massively disappointed. I've been working towards this for a very long time. It feels kind of silly to defer me for things due to the fact that I did not mention them in my application in 2013. You spend almost 2 years t...

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

Which human rights were violated? You should exhaust all your options, the RCMP loves to put people into Depot who have ensured their feelings have never been hurt...and us member even more love working with those people.... (insert smilies that infer sarcasm) For fawk sakes have some dignity and e...

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

Here's an open question for current or former members.. What have your thoughts been on homeownership versus renting in the communities you serve, as Mountie families? Depends on posting for sure, if it's your first post and the housing market is a little slow I would rent because your likely going...

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

Some statistics/reality questions that I cannot seem to find or get answers to: 1. Divorce rate in RCMP 2. Unemployment rate for RCMP spouses I don't think you will find either answer. If you are married and want to be a Mountie, you need to do some research (real research) as to what your duties/e...

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

Got a call from the Sergeant in charge of my security clearance review at RCMP Departmental Security... He said he will be recommending me/signing off on my clearance and I should be notified by my FC soon. He also said winter in Regina shouldn't be too bad... Ha! Crazy to think 7 months ago I was ...
