Re: GENERAL CBSA APPLICANT CHIT CHAT

I think a lot of people forget you don’t actually need the license, as long as you pass the courses they will only ask for the paperwork saying you passed. Unless you plan on buying / possessing guns of your own there wouldn’t be that much of a need to actually get your PAL (although If you take th...

Re: GENERAL CBSA APPLICANT CHIT CHAT

I keep seeing the same questions on folks asking on when they should think about getting their firearms license. If anyone is in this hiring process and hasnt done their RPAL course, the answer to the above question is yesterday. You had best get on that. Timelines are ranging from 3 months to well ...

Re: GENERAL CBSA APPLICANT CHIT CHAT

Anyone knows if I can get full wages going from one federal department to the other? I was told at my workplace (by a coworker) I can claim wages since I would be doing training with the federal government and I work for the federal government. Thanks! It used to from what I recall. When I was at C...

Re: GENERAL CBSA APPLICANT CHIT CHAT

I agree, lets keep the semantics out of this, Im sure we all get our dose of covid arguing and overload on social media outlets, how about we keep our eye on the prize here. Complaining about covid on here will do absolutely nothing to speed up the hiring process and in all honesty would likely hind...

Re: GENERAL CBSA APPLICANT CHIT CHAT

Good day KEVLAR   Thank you for your document (PSYCH REDO), we updated your file accordingly. For the moment, we know the next classes will be in 2021, so retesting the psychological assessment will only be if it is necessary. Best regards, Officer Recruitment Program Team / Human Resources Branch C...

Re: GENERAL CBSA APPLICANT CHIT CHAT

They have sent out emails in error before. Could have just been a blanket email that encompassed all at that stage. Im sure they dont want to send someone for anoyher evaluation on their dime when its a long way off from expiry.

Ill go with that.

Re: GENERAL CBSA APPLICANT CHIT CHAT

Did anyone else just get an email from CBSA recruitment requesting psychological retesting? It mentions that I will have to redo my psych if I have reached the 2 year mark. I took and passed my testing April 5, 2019.... Wondering if this is a mistake. Regardless, I emailed them and am awaiting a co...

Re: GENERAL CBSA APPLICANT CHIT CHAT

Nothing yet. Still waiting on my medical invite. Or second language evaluation. Your timeline is pretty smooth!!! I guess for those who received that email from HR have already completed all steps waiting for OITP Good luck! Sounds like it. I got that email also. Seems those who did are the ones wa...

Re: GENERAL CBSA APPLICANT CHIT CHAT

Probably a weird question but any ideas how I can practice the jump for the PARE? I am doing lots of cardio - just unsure how I can be prepared for the jump without any access to a gym. If you have a proper length yoga mat just practice leaping over that while in a jog. No idea your household setup...

Re: GENERAL CBSA APPLICANT CHIT CHAT

"It's prudent financial advice to accumulate an emergency savings fund that can last for a few months if necessary." Stop buying all that BS you don't need or can't afford and you will not cry to Govt anytime you have no salary for 2-3 months ;) It amazes me how many claim they will be "bankrupt" i...

Re: GENERAL CBSA APPLICANT CHIT CHAT

I received this same email verbatim back in November (they had only sent out the January invites at the time). The only difference was it had no mention of summer. Two months later I received an email asking me to recertify my PARE and then a month after that received an email asking to recertify m...

Re: GENERAL CBSA APPLICANT CHIT CHAT

Well yes you are correct on the above. Yet people still apply knowing the terms and conditions and then piss and moan when the terms and conditions dont come out in their favor. We all signed on the dotted line when we had our interview, and I would hope we all read the posting in its entirety befor...

Re: GENERAL CBSA APPLICANT CHIT CHAT

I think y'all missed the point of what I wrote. Which is quite unfortunate. We can stand around and talk about the hiring process and how it should be and how it would be more fair and how it would save tax payers money til the next passing of Haleys Comet. And there are very valid points and Im sur...

Re: GENERAL CBSA APPLICANT CHIT CHAT

Sometimes people just need to tell it like it is. What a difference from when I went through just 10 short years ago with another Federal agency... so many sacrifices and noone said boo. We didnt even get an allowance while away for training. The entitlement is strong these days. If you want it. You...

Re: Ask the CBSA!

I know in my process with the CBSA, it specifically asked at the application stage to list three areas you would like to work (check boxes beside ports) and they were all in the same region. This differed from previous postings and differed greatly from when I started with the feds 10 years ago and ...
