Re: GENERAL CBSA APPLICANT CHIT CHAT

The whole process is hurry up and wait. No rhyme or reason. There is no special secret. I near aced my OTEE, everything else was completed quickly, already a current employee with the feds in the same Public Safety umbrella as an officer (10 years) and I have a high priority status. Doesnt mean a th...

Re: GENERAL CBSA APPLICANT CHIT CHAT

Get your firearms licence done right away! Its not like it expires like your medical psych and pare. It could take 6 months or more to get your RPAL especially in Ontario given the gun climate as of late and huge backlogs. Ive known folks waiting up to a year if youve had multiple conjugal partners ...

Re: GENERAL CBSA APPLICANT CHIT CHAT

You should maintain your substantive pay level increment, a coworker of mine finished Rigauld and his increment stayed the same and it was explaned to me by pwgsc that mine will as well. Your sick leave and vacation credits will transfer over at the applicable rate in conjunction with the CBA of the...

Re: GENERAL CBSA APPLICANT CHIT CHAT

Again, I cannot stress that PARE enough. Dont underestimate it. When I did mine, class of 12, more than half failed. Not one female passed. All died on the push pull. All were very petite. Where a heavier person with poor core thrength could just force their way through the push these very lean and ...

Re: GENERAL CBSA APPLICANT CHIT CHAT

I plan on driving from Alberta. I dont care about the distance or the cost, having my vehicle there will be great. I havent spent any time out east other than a few weekends in Montreal but I want to go and see things on the weekend. So much history so much scenery so much culture that varies from m...

Re: GENERAL CBSA APPLICANT CHIT CHAT

Oh and if anyone hasnt gotten their PAL prior to applying get that done immediately. Wait times can be anywhere between 45 days and 6 months or more depending on the province youre in. Big backlogs in Ontario so I have heard.

Re: Ask the CBSA!

Thats a good point Zedlinka, however I'll play the devils advocate and say that the same could be said for those with a degree and having zero common sense of streetsmarts/life experience. Ive seen both sides with my decade in the federal prisons. Ive seen people come through on both sides that had ...

Re: GENERAL CBSA APPLICANT CHIT CHAT

Hey everyone. Just something I noticed when I ran my PARE. If you're near the end of the process and havent ran your PARE yet, I would definitely get on that. Somewhere in around when you get your request to submit your Security Clearance. Its valid for 18 months, so get it done. I put mine off beca...

Re: Ask the CBSA!

Hey guys, when do they ask for proof of the restricted/non-restricted firearms license proof? And specifically, what should I have on hand for when they ask for it as proof? I have the R/PAL card, and own some firearms... but I don't know what they'd want as proof. When I got my invite for the inte...

Re: Applying to Correctional Service Canada

Hello again. Sorry for the bother but I’d like to hear some feedback from some COs on the changes happening within CSC. And if my questions don’t make sense it because I’m writing this after a 14hr graveyard shift. I’ve been interested in the job and researching this career very thoroughly lately, ...

Re: GENERAL CBSA APPLICANT CHIT CHAT

Hello fellow applicants! Just wondering how everyone's timeline is looking. I did my interview and got the results 4 months ago, but no email or phone call for psy evaluation yet. Should I be contacting the CBSA about it, or am I just being impatient here? Its completely random and all over the pla...
