Re: Ontario Correctional Services

Gu that particular officer left on a secondment which does not apply in this situation he was "borrowed" by another part of the government agency. Good to know. As he left for probation right before I started at OCDC and came back to OCDC about 3 weeks before I left OCDC, so I was not even aware of...

Re: Story behind ON CO’s 14.5% increase

You could not leave OPSEU until the end of your contract term. Not in the next two years. Our contract ends in 2021 don't exactly remember the month but very soon regardless. I believe next July and it will go to an arbitrator. Ford thinks he’s god and only wants to give 1%, which is under cost of ...

Re: Story behind ON CO’s 14.5% increase

I was in Ontario correction last year and enjoy the big increase 14.5% (until 2022) a few months before I moved to Federal Correction. But I just learned why government is generous enough to give us this Increase: Because Ontario COs had a plan to leave OPSEU and join UCCO (Union of Canadian Correc...

Written test trick, should or should not?

I heard a quite common trick to prepare the ON correction written test from applicants (outside this forum), it is apparently neither obviously right nor obviously wrong. They want to apply Ontario correction, but they are not confident on written tests. They also know that BC and Ontario use the sa...

Re: Ontario Correctional Services

Anybody left ON Corrections and went back? Asking for a friend. Is it possible and how to go about it. Thanks I did see a CO at OCDC left correction for probation officer job and come back to OCDC as a CO after 1 year. So, yes, it is possible. But the downside is that his seniority was bumped back ...

Re: Ontario Correctional Services

For anyone that doesn't know the province just announced a pandemic raise for all of Frontline workers. https://news.ontario.ca/opo/en/2020/04/pandemic-pay-provides-support-for-frontline-workers-fighting-covid-19.html That's pretty sweet, they deserve this bonus. I wish we feds can also have it, bu...

Congrats, OPS is a good workplace. I lived in Ottawa before. If I did not move to BC, for sure I will apply OPS.

stay safe

I am sure most of us already read this from the news: the COVID 19 outbreak in jail is way worst than we expect. In BC, one institution already had 70 confirmed positive cases (according to CTV news as of Apr 18th: 60 inmates plus 10 staff were positive) and the first inmate death caused by COVID 19...

Re: Ontario Correctional Services

The worst part is that some new federal CO recruits at PEI training academy got sent home, even they were only 12 days away from their graduation. Some of them quitted their previous jobs, sublet their apartment in their home cities before they went for CSC training. They now have to struggle for a ...
