Re: New recruits at an all-time low

Just apply to Edmonton where you can take all the tests for free.

And then get a 5k moving allowance.

And then get paid throughout training without paying a dime for training.

Re: Fire to police

I work with one. And he's headed back to fire soon lol Did he give you an idea as to why? Several. You miss WAY more in terms of your family/personal life (we constantly have to do courses, paid duties, volunteering, etc). You make the same as Fire, but have to work 4 times harder while people call...

Re: brit cop looking to move

Thank you so much guys. What are the thoughts on English cops out there? There's so many of them here in Edmonton, no one gives it a second thought. They're all relatively senior now though, the big recruitment pushes from the UK were over a decade ago. And of course Dan Woodall, formerly of Greate...

Re: brit cop looking to move

Hey, I work with a fellow whom was an officer in the UK and Australia. He had to go through all the steps, right from the start. That includes getting your ATS certification (Ontario services require it, except OPP), interviewing, etc. Jesus, UK cop to Australian cop to Canadian cop? Crossing off a...

Re: brit cop looking to move

Edmonton and Calgary are full of Brits. To be honest, there's ex-pats in probably every major service. Here's a link with steps once you get PR status:

Re: Calgary Police Service

Cityblue summed up everything perfectly and eloquently. I want to reiterate, if you are "approaching" level 7 on the beep test, I don't want to sound rude but that's simply not good enough. As he said, that's the minimum and 95% of the applicants will soar far above that score. With how c...

Re: Improve my resume

According to OhNoFiveOh's profile, he is a registered member of the Police Officers Only group. Maybe someone can shed some light on this but doesn't that mean he has been officially verified as an LEO on this site?

Re: The future as a police officer

In 2016 when I applied as a Sheriff. 400 applicants with me for 20 PART TIME positions. I'm working on my second round now. I applied to CSC in Feb, my exam had approx 50 other people. Still waiting for those results over a month later.. so it's not a speedy process no matter where you go. Be prepa...

Re: OPP Applicant Updates Thread

By "failing" the poly do you mean that you admitted to lying about some aspect of your application or background? Or did you "fail" because they suspected you lied? Did you have new, large and important admissions that you only "remembered" during the poly? This is usu...

Re: Hired!

Starting my 15-week training with GO Transit as a Special Constable (Transit Safety Officer) very shortly. Excited and nervous at the same time. 5 years of contract security life and applications to a few services, I am hired. Honoured and proud to join GO Transit. I've heard good things about GO T...

Re: Exploring out of province/country law enforcement option

"A couple of arrests" when you were younger will hurt you anywhere you apply. No service is hurting bad enough for that to not be a siginificant issue. A poor driving history alone is going to be a barrier for you. You are underestimating the competitiveness of the job. I would see how you...

Re: Toronto Police Service

His 'attitude' comes from years of dedicated and (as apparent here) thankless service. His complaints about people he's expected to trust with his life is, I don't doubt, warranted. Millennial with no life experience versus what? Baby boomers like yourself with horrible attitudes? Guess which one so...

Re: Toronto Police Service

Interesting news: m If they do open up, I'm sure preference (as it should) will go to all of those rescinded job offers from that last class? Except for those who got picked up else where. I wonder how that would work. Update: Seems John Tory has confirmed it. http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/...

Re: Edmonton Police Service Recruiting

Hello there, I'm a recent oil and gas engineer graduate and i'm looking to trade in those underused overalls for a uniform and a badge. Not that long ago, I was at a career fair at my university and I was talking to the police officer and forgot to ask these types of question so i'm hoping one of y...
