Re: Corrections In Manitoba

+1 I was a "correctional officer for kids" for a few years. You need a lot of patience and by the time they are actually given any time in either of the youth centers they are generally very far down the path of unlikely return. Also safety takes a back seat to whatever program they push a...

Re: Border Security Canada: Episodes Now Online

I think it was border security I was watching a while ago when they did a routine search of a ship and got all excited when they found and angel wing knife in the emergency lifeboat kit. If my recollection is correct they spent 5 minutes of the episode explaining how great of a find this was. I was ...

Re: Ontario ombudsman outs Durham police officer

Wow you guys are all missing the real issue here... Is Mr. Marin in fact a member of al-Qaeda? A very serious accusation has been made, a full public inquest into the conduct and personal life of Mr. Marin should be conducted immediately to find out if this accusation is true.

Re: Positive Discrimination

I thought it was a given that everyone knows Ottawa is a very bilingual city. +1, I am originally from Ottawa, took French all through high school and passed the French testing at U of O, but would definitely NOT consider myself bilingual enough to work in many areas of Ottawa. Bilingualism aside, ...

Re: Positive Discrimination

If 90% of your applicants are male and 10% female then all you have done is figured out the ratio of male to female applicants. Since all you have done is figured out the ratio of males to females...you cannot know which percentage of males or females are going to be accepted to training because you...

Re: Zimmerman not guilty

You say if Martin hadn't attacked Zimmerman he would be alive; I say if Zimmerman had used more common sense and not disregarded the advice of the call taker this could all have been avoided. Maybe the police would have arrived in time to clear up the situation; maybe not, and Martin would have mel...

Re: Zimmerman not guilty

I can think of a few that do. I reserve my empathy for the victims. If poor little Martin hadn't attacked him that day, he would still be alive.
