Re: Former Paramedic pursuing new career
Hi folks. Kind of in the same boat here. I applied to the OPP in 2009 and was advised by the recruiter that the military may be a good idea to gain more experience. At the time I was working full time driving truck on a city route and going to school at night for pre-service fire ( understand that ...

There's probably already a google cache version of it anyway. But like was said, the question was if the psych is failed at one service is it true that one can't apply to other services because one was told that but doesn't think it's entirely true. M So basically psych failed means recruiters are ...

Re: RCMP education?
At your age the number one most important thing you can do to help your future self be hired is to not use drugs or abuse alcohol. The things that will stop your application dead in its tracks are drug use, drinking and driving, and other illegal activity. Sample resume items from me and my troopmate...

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT
Hello: I was wondering if people can tell me what storage is like at Depot. Is there a storage room that is accessible to cadets on the evenings and weekends? I was also wondering if someone who recently went through will be able to tell me about the wifi access in the barracks. Yes I understand th...

Re: Public service education
I think what he's saying is the equivalent of the military saying of "stay in your lane." No reason to get butt-hurt over it. I am not butt hurt, he needs to lighten up. The OP was a troll, and posted a baited question, so it deserves a sarcastic response. Yeah, but your sarcastic respons...

Re: Work in analytics/intelligence minoring patrolling? Exis
I get what you're asking OP. I think what you're looking for is more a CSIS type career path. CSIS is not actually a law enforcement agency, so you won't be carrying a gun or arresting people. CSIS is quite good at keeping their operations secret, so I don't really know exactly what they do, but the...

Re: Public service education
They decided to cut out all the classes on the law though, not enough time, and since the police are always abusing the law anyway, and the lawyers and judges make it up as they go along, the bean counters figured it was better in the long run. I know you're trying to be tongue-in-cheek, but you're...

Re: BC RCMP Accelerated Recruiting 2013 - Women only.
Last time it was 90 days from writing RPAT to Depot date. I have couple of buddies who went from 0 to being on the road in 10 months. How can they accelerate the background investigation and SC without compromise to detail? Because the RCMP doesn't bother themselves with pesky details like a thorou...

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT
I'm preparing my things for depot, and I see that the packing list says to bring exercise clothes (obviously). My question is whether cadets are issued uniform PT gear to be worn for all physical activity, and that I only need to bring shorts and a t-shirt for initial fitness testing type stuff, or ...

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT
I'm curious if Depot is similar to BMQ, SQ, DP1 & 2, etc. where you should be a grey man. (Not finishing first or last, not speaking unless spoken to, etc.) I was always told that if the instructors don't know your name at the end of the course, you've done an excellent job. Seemed to work for ...

I actually remember that story from a few years back. Here's a link to the text of the National Post article. I think it was just one individual manager that took the idea of employment equity too far. The move was condemned by everybody, but racist and sexist lunatics still cling to it and repeat t...
