Re: Encrypted scanners

I use encrypted now in an urban area. My first post was rural and there simply was no way they were going to spend the kind of money needed to encrypt our comms. It makes life harder for news outlets and tow operators but I'm all for encrypted. So much personal information gets aired. I would hate t...

I was rooting for you. I figured you made a mistake by picking Bombardier when Peckham has stock in Gulfstream.

Re: Richmond RCMP - could the end be near.

I'm curious to know if any new police services have been formed in the last 20 years? Abbotsford is older than that I believe. At a glance the trend seems to be for small services to get absorbed by their provincial counterparts instead of the other way around.

Re: Raising Highway Speed Limits

I grew up on the 401 / 404 and am now back in the GTA after driving some of the BC highways that recently had their limits increased. I'm confident in saying that the highways in BC do not compare to the highways in the GTA. BC (excluding the west-side of the Fraser Valley): - No express lane - four...

Re: Blue duty bag

I have a blue one from Hatch. I don't recall where I picked it up (8 years ago or so) but it stands out nicely on the shelf next to all the black ones.

A lot of them are vulnerable people who end up taking a seminar on how the system has knocked them down. People who are mentally ill or have substance abuse issues and are susceptible to believing that they can scam the system. There are also a bunch, usually guys running the seminar, who just have...

Re: Nine charged with racing in Oakville

when I worked at a car rental company, they had a bunch of part-timers they would hire to ferry the cars around. They were all guys in their late 50's, early 60's. They would just mosey on in and mosey on out. They would never speed because they were on an hourly wage.

Re: Question for police officer, What do you love about

I love the variety of calls you can end up taking and the amount you learn about yourself and society in general. You actually do end up helping people through situations more often than you think you just don't get any thanks for it from everybody else (or the person you helped if they talk to anyo...

Re: Homeowners crying foul over police-related property taxe

I remember driving to a rural town to settle a really lame dispute between neighbours. Basically two hermits who moved away from town because they can't get along with anyone. They promptly fall into a long dispute over loud noise. Then they both antagonize each other to the point where one calls us...

Re: Work experience being a hindrance?

I don't think falsyfing log books back in your old job is a big deal. Trying to downplay it now will get you bumped. No one cares that everyone was doing it, they want to know that you learned that it's a bad idea and if presented with a similar situation now, you wouldn't do it again. Talking about...

Re: Actor Paul Walker is dead

I felt bad for the death of Tom Clancy recently. I knew nothing of the guy, I just enjoyed his books. Selfishly I learned that his last one was finished will be released soon and felt better. Had he died in a public place I wouldn't attend the location to pay a tribute or anything like that. Paul Wa...

Re: RCMP Barbie

I've never been able to hit the mark on the ideal pec, arm and thigh muscle mass as portrayed by those rubber WWF wrestlers back when I was a kid. My daughter has a ton of Barbie's and doesn't care what they look like. She has them playing with all sorts of dolls and is far more excited about the fa...

Re: Ontario ombudsman outs Durham police officer

Making a post on twitter is no different then having the conversation with a friend in person with a third party overhearing it and taking offence to it. You'll still get in trouble. People need to learn to keep their opinions to themselves about sensitive topics when using any social media. The mos...
