Re: OPP chooses new sidearm: Glock 17
Pretty exciting, a great platform. This just shows the massive shift back to 9mm is happening. My department, a large state agency, is transitioning back to 9mm after a long run of .40 S&W. We are also getting pistol lights issued as well.

Re: Exploring out of province/country law enforcement option
In addition to what was mentioned by exle0987, many departments set a minimum of basic disqualifications that would automatically prohibit you from applying. If these dis-qualifiers do not apply to you, or if you have questions, disclose everything on your application. Many agencies will look at the...

Re: Exploring out of province/country law enforcement option
State law-enforcement officer here. I'm unaware of any agencies that have lowered hiring standards or would hire someone outside of state or federal citizenship requirements. Care to elaborate?

Weyburn's got nothin' on Dafoe (24-hr Husky Travel Centre). But to be fair, how about Yorkton? It's like Weyburn but doesn't have its own muni PS...

I know exactly where you are! I bumped into an officer from your service in Ft. Qu' Appelle years ago.

Re: OPP chooses new sidearm: Glock 17
If given the chance most will drop their 40sw Glock's for the new 17M platform. I agree, and I'd be willing to bet that Glock will be offering 17M's at a bargain price (or urging distributors to give generous allowances for trade-ins) to get more into the hands of departments for exposure. Yupppp! ...

Re: Ask a Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Officer
Sparwood would be a nice duty location!
Here we have CVEO 1-4. CVEO 1's are the core group in the field. CVEO 2's are similar to a corporal rank (lead worker), CVEO 3's would be supervisors and CVEO 4's are program managers, be that industry based or training related.

Re: Ask a Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Officer
I wonder why so many postings from SK...attrition or adding personnel? I have to admit, my mother in law would love for me to apply for this and bring her daughter back home...lol. I see a CVEO when we are in Yorkton from time to time but I never have a chance to stop and chat. Same for the scale fa...

Re: OPP chooses new sidearm: Glock 17
Not just a Glock 17 but the new Glock 17M The internet was hot and heavy with info on the 17M earlier this year but I haven't seen any recent developments lately. I haven't even received any updated armorer documentation on the specific differences (compared to the boatload armorers were sent at th...

Re: OPP chooses new sidearm: Glock 17
Not sure what the love is for the 1911. Then there's no saving you... Not many folks have had the chance to really run a decent 1911 platform so go easy on him Heck...I'd bet that most LE officers hired in the past 5 years haven't even handled a 1911, let alone know how to clear one or make it safe.

Re: OPP chooses new sidearm: Glock 17
Ya, I'd like to try a 1911, 9mm is my love. Seem complicated and pricy lol. 'Sorry... I should have been more specific. As king I would have 'em all carrying .45acp 1911's. I'm a 9mm guy.. I've shot 45 lol. Not sure what the love is for the 1911. Springfield Armory 1911 Loaded in 9MM...FTW. (But I ...

Re: Your opinion - By-law/MLEO Uniforms, PPE and Vehicles
Just for some perspective,in the states (especially here in WA), department heads are permited to grant limited commissions to their staff to supplement fully-commissioned officers. In many cases here near Seattle, these officers serve roles such as animal control, custodial transport and court secu...

Re: What Type of Vehicle?
Seeing a lot of them popping up around here as taxis (in addition to the Ann Arbor, Greenie-friendly Prius). Current versions have the 4.6L V8 & automatic transmission from FoMoCo so taxi fleets will love the maintenance ease and familiarity. There is supposed to be a transition to the 3.7L V6 a...
