Re: What exactly can I do to build myself/resume?

Stay out of trouble (Traffic tickets) thats where I totally screwed myself over... You can apply for any or all of the new postings At the orientation for TSDC, they requested that any current candidates for TSDC do not apply to other ...

Re: Most effective LE martial art

I had never heard of this book / term before. Verbal de-escalation is the most important tool in your tool belt for sure. I went out and bought the book yesterday, loving it so far, thanks! The book is okay, its filled with some interesting stories as the author was NYPD pc. Find his video online, ...

Re: Ontario Correctional Services

Keep in mind fellas this is 80 of apparently 300-400 positions there gonna fill by 2015. If this is so stacked with solid applicants, the next hiring competitions may yield lesser overall numbers and as such, it wont be too late. From my personal mindset, I'd make sure you guys have something keepin...

Re: Most effective LE martial art

I'm not sure what your physical abilities are, but assuming you're not in fantastic shape you are probably better off spending your time in the gym lifting weights and doing some high intensity cardio than worrying about martial arts. That said, for police officers I would personally suggest bjj. Y...

Re: Most effective LE martial art

Sign up for a local MMA gym and mix the classes up, no one martial art is the best martial art...

Get a few chosen techniques and practice them often in your rolling sessions; i.e.: armbar take down, single leg, knee on belly can also be useful. perhaps not the neck cranks or chokes :smirk:

Re: Ontario Correctional Services

Is 80 actually sufficient to fill the entire rotation at TSDC and all the vacancies province wide? Or is there a plan to hire more people afterwards in 2013

Re: Ontario Correctional Services

I wonder if you can be both a correctional officer and youth services officer at the same time? Or would that be a conflict? I wonder if you can hold two public service jobs at the same time. Just curious. Interestingly there run by different ministries... i thought community safety & cor servi...
