You should be sized up for your vest at the start of core, and hopefully it shows up before you graduate! :smirk: Gloves seem to be either on core (like mine) or when you get to your institution for OJT.

Re: Applying to Correctional Service Canada

Don't take this the wrong way, I am not disrespecting anybody’s honours and awards, but the whole undress ribbon thing on the work uniform is peculiar. Why do we encourage people to wear undress ribbons on their work uniforms? Why would we show inmates what kind of "racks" we have? This m...

Re: Applying to Correctional Service Canada

Awesome, you guys need to tell treasury board how its done. That locals not allowed to stay on base does set a bad vibe and i hope you guys can ratify that. That's been a practice for courses or short time deployments in the CF for as long as I have been in (reserves almost 30 years). Even when I'v...

Re: Applying to Correctional Service Canada

I have ordered a pair of gloves included in my uniform order but I was curious if I could carry other gloves once I start at my institution. Specifically if I bought a pair of needle/slash resistant gloves, that look almost identical to the issued gloves, could I use them on the job? Someone might ...

Re: Applying to Correctional Service Canada

What is this "points" system in regards to purchasing kit, and how does it work? Can anyone advise? you get say 300 points, they accumulate and its up to you to order uniform clothing. So a shirt is 10 points, socks 4 points. Some items are point heavy like winter coat which would be 100 ...

Re: Applying to Correctional Service Canada

A question for experienced members regarding boots - Is there any value to purchasing the waterproof models? I'm wondering if these would be so warm as to be uncomfortable if spending the majority of shifts indoors Thanks I have a pair of Blackhawk warrior wear composite boots, they are waterproof;...

Learning to be patient is key for this process and working for CSC in general. We live by "hurry up and wait".

Re: Applying to Correctional Service Canada

So, totally off topic here but since moving to BC, I've become a little "sensitive" to cold weather. With that said, going back to Saskatchewan for training is going to be interesting. Does anyone know if the muskrat hat is issued as a standard piece of an Officers kit for everyone or wou...

Re: Applying to Correctional Service Canada

I searched this thread but did not find an answer so I will ask the members here with time in... Is there a certain amount of time one should have in before going up as a cx2 in a acting position? Or is it based on institutional knowledge and confidence with your abilities to perform the role? Real...

Re: Applying to Correctional Service Canada

Thank you! Also is the 2 year deployment commitment, that was part of the new agreement, include any CX staff that have under 2 years served at their current institution but where already at an institution before the new contract? Or does that rule only concern recruits from the date of signing? I ...

Re: Applying to Correctional Service Canada

If you do not have constructive advice you should not be posting. CSC are NOT searching for people who are not team players! Actually, the advice I gave you was one of the first things given to me when I showed up as a potential recruit on these forums. And it's handy advice. Get used to it. During...

Do yourself a favour and search through the previous threads. There is a very good chance what you ask has already been covered.

Re: Applying to Correctional Service Canada

According to the Public Service website, there is a 180 day waiting period before you can write the WCPT or GCT1 again.
