Re: OPP Applicant Updates Thread

Is it by any means possible to download a copy of the "pre-background questionnaire" document that needs to be completed for the OPP? I know the RCMP does provide it on their website but I was not able to find it on the OPP website besides the general application form.

Thanks,

Not looking good for 2013 fellas. http://toronto.ctvnews.ca/toronto-s-top-cop-denied-budget-hike-request-1.1074630 The city's top cop has to find some savings after the Toronto Police Services Board voted against increasing his budget for 2013. Re: OPP Applicant Updates Thread

Sometimes there are joint initiatives ie: Festive Ride but in the GTA, we do highway patrol. I've been at an HSD detachment for 5 years and I've never once set foot inside a bar on duty. Thanks for your reply, Can you get assigned to a HSD right out of Police College or do you apply to these detach...

Re: OPP Applicant Updates Thread

Quick question, The OPP detachments in the GTA and surrounding area are HSDs (Highway Safety Detachment) so I'm wondering if the HSD participate in other police work other than patrolling Highways? Eg. Domestics cases, nightclubs, crisis situations or is that all left for the local law enforcement a...

Due to Budget reasons?

That's really unfortunate. So TPS & OPP aren't hiring for 2013....Sheesh

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

To Argyll, I am not associated with any police force. I am merely an applicant and as I mentioned in my original post, the aforementioned statements are merely my opinions and the "obstacles" outlined above are deterrents others have pointed out to me that they have experienced. I have a f...

Why do you want to be a Mountie?

Hey Guys, I'm just curious to hear from all the applicants as to why you want to be an RCMP Officer versus other police forces (muni, provincial, etc....) ? Basically, why do you want to join an organization that is very bureaucratic with slow procedures (eg. application process); places you in an i...

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

I'm sure I can call them, go back in and get an Opthamologist to check the 2 boxes, but I just wanted to put this out there so other applicants can know and save themselves some time and a trip. Don't let the optometrist tell you that it's okay! Make the Opthamologist appear! So I guess I spoke too...

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

Hi, I have 2 questions... 1. New Federal Budget was released at the end of March and from my understanding there have been cuts all around the federal government in an attempt to restructure. I'm wondering if the new budget has any impact(s) for the RCMP (Policing side) in terms of recruiting classe...

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

Regarding the 18 year old applicant concept.... I myself applied to the RCMP back in 2006 when I was 21 years old, 11 months later I was off to Depot. 18 and 21 are not that much different so I have some advice for you. I think the difference between 18 and 21 is more significant than what you make...

Re: Provincial Contract Renewals with RCMP

I wanted to see if anybody had any information on the provinces renewing their contracts with the RCMP for another 25 yrs? I had heard that 2011/12 was contract year and that they expire in March 2012 so provinces had to either sign on for another contract with the RCMP or create their own force. T...
