Re: Toronto Police Service

TPS and many other outfits are hiring for attrition only. (Projected and actual annual retirements / those that leave the job).

My outfit hasn't hired a new copper in years; only replacing those that retire/leave.

Re: What exactly can I do to build myself/resume?

Get a trade /thread. I got PF. Pretty well a waste of money. Especially if you can't ever get on. I work with guys who were HVAC installers, plummers, electricians, heavy equip operators, mechanics. All the guys with trades certs make cash on the side doing work for coppers. I basically work 6 month...

Re: Worried about my poor Academic Integrity record

Wow. This thread is gold. I gotta come on the public side more often... Life was tough so i cheated. (got caught) Life was still tough, i cheated again even though i knew what would happen; got caught again. OPC is pretty gruelling. 3.5 months, physically and mentally difficult. You going to cheat t...

Re: Wreckless Driving 5 years ago and application

As pointed out. its reckless not wreckless. Also you were likely charged with "Careless" driving. 490 plus 6 points. its a good one. You have lots of maturing to do; and need to take OWNERSHIP and RESPONSIBILITY for YOUR mistakes. Until you do; you WILL NOT become a police officer. People ...

Re: How are my chances joining a Police department.

Get a job doing customer service. That would be far and above working as a security guard for experience. This. You will learn far more about my job working the courtesy desk at Wall-Mart than you EVER will as a security guard. I can teach a chimp handcuffing or any other thing you would learn as a...

Re: Police Foundations

Oh yeah. I had a 3.98 GPA. All A's, A+ and a single B. I had references of the program coordinator, retired OPP D/C, and a retired Peel S/Sgt. I met an OPP recruiter who immediately noted my maturity above my peers and that I actually wanted this job and would likely make it. Would I have got on wit...

Re: Police Foundations

My take on PF. CAN be valuable. ONLY IF you get hired soon after and learn things. Reality: 240 students admitted. They readily tell you when you go to entrance testing that maybe five (5) will go the distance. It's been 5 years. I am the only 1 to my knowledge. The overwhelming majority of people a...
