Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

please don't come here get told that then complain for days on end about it. The requirement to apply was to be willing and to know that the RCMP will post you wherever best suits their needs. Considerations are made in some aspects but don't consider yourself guaranteed any spot unless it was esta...

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

The PAL has no bearing on anything. You don't need one for the job. And don't correct your firearms facilitators when one of them says dumb shit like hollowpoints are prohibited and other things you know isn't true, or learned on the firearms safety courses.

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

Is there is a swimming component at Depot? My wife will be moving to Canada for the first time and am the only one she knows here. Would it be a good idea for her to move to Regina with me or let her stay in Winnipeg? If you can't swim don't worry about it. You'll need trunks for at least one class...

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

But it really doesnt make sense to apply to the force and pre-plan leaving gd before you even lace up. I'll politely disagree with not applying if you don't want to do GD. Keep in mind we're have the large federal duties, and we have members that have a goal of doing federal work. One of my troopma...

People work so hard to get into this uniform and then seem to be excited to get out of it.
When GD is treated like a redheaded rented mule stepchild of course they are.

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

Not sure if this question has been asked before but I am struggling to find an answer. I currently attend Carleton University and I am studying Criminology and Criminal Justice. They offer an honours degree, 4 year program, and a general degree, 3 year program, but they are both considered official...

Looking for some dress code advice.
I recently signed up for a ride along with my local police force, and I have it scheduled for Wednesday! Just wondering if anyone would know the best thing to wear, in terms of business casual or just casual.

Thanks in advance!

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

for people who are already at Depot, what are the chances of cadet getting their own room with washroom? I heard some cadets do get their own rooms with washroom but those are limited. And for the shared bathrooms, how busy is it in the morning? if I ever make it to Depot, id probably sleep at 9pm ...

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

Any Edmonton based applicants looking for a workout partner? I've been on a deferral for over 6 months now and would be up for meeting up with someone for some extra motivation for the last few months. Thanks! It used to be someone from big brother troop would pick you up. I'm curious what they do ...

Re: New RCMP staffing policy

Consider the living cost comparison between Dawson Creek, BC and Toronto, ON (rent / real estate prices are more than twice as expensive in Toronto). Cost of living is a hard argument. I'm in a small village in northern SK and I could buy 3 houses in Bathurst NB for what a mobile home is being sold...

I don't think he intend it either, just should have known better. All my time is rural/native so I couldn't guess what Surrey work is like.

Both are easier in ways and harder in ways. Might as well be different countries and different police forces.

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

Graduated from Depot in January 2016 and now posted in Surrey, BC. I can try and answer any questions for the people still in the process or heading to Depot shortly. All the best. J.S.B As someone who works in the largest RCMP detachment, how do you feel your experience would be better/worse in a ...
