Re: Purchase of surplus ex-police/government vehicles

If you can get your hands on a DND blue fleet you can get a pretty decent vehicle depending on where it was used. Serviced fairly regularly, and usually not driven too hard. Anything from base transport is usually well maintained and taken care of. Staff cars are babied like crazy, and many of the v...

I wonder if his Bump-helmet is actually ballistic rated or just an Airsoft purchase.... Probably doesn't even have hard plates in the armor...... In any case, this is getting ridiculous.... Dude is just playing dress-up now.... Also... Nice Hard knuckle gloves he's got there...... Wonder if he's fa...

Re: Ask the CBSA!

At what point do you receive the relocation pay after training? Is it before or after you move? Just wondering how much money to squirrel away. Squirrel away as much as you can. You may well be looking at up to 6 months without any sort of steady regular income. When I relocated, I received an adva...

...." no sure thing guarantee of a job until you sign the contract" or "It's an 18 week job interview:" ..... - This can scare anyone, that's really intense ! Don't want to scare you dude..... It can be stressful, but keep in mind, if you're there, you're there for a reason. CBS...

Re: Ask the CBSA!

Save some money... If bringing a car isn't an option find someone who does have a vehicle. There will be weekends where you need to get out of the college and go to Vaudreil or Montreal... it can be a pressure cooker and you need to get away and de-stress. This.... I think I had less stressful days...

Re: Canadian Armed Forces

Majority of my experience that I drew from before becoming a cop was customer service/sales. It's more applicable than you think That is so true. People tend to go security and army, thinking that will help them. And it may, but providing customer service definitely helps more. I did both military ...

Re: Brinks vs Garda (G4S) to work for

Don’t belittle any enforcement job, security, Brink’s, Police, By-Law, we are all out there to enforce, and protect..whether it be ourselves, community, or cash and property, we are in it for the same passions! Quite the ELITE position you've taken on this matter... Especially the not so TACTICAL w...

Re: Ask the CBSA!

CBSA currently has the advertisement still running for applications. My question: I worked in IT for my entire life and now that I am thinking of applying for CBSA - none of my duties match the role itself, so how do I overcome it? Any ideas? Added, I do not have my Standard First Aid yet. Is it a ...

Re: A renewed call for a firearms registry

I would argue that more reasources to guns and gangs units, and front line border protection both at the port of entry, as well as between the ports would be a better use of money and time, opposed to a registry for guns already in Canada. I'm still not remotely convinced that the firearms used in m...

Re: A renewed call for a firearms registry

Okay.... So other than the very broad phrasing "It's what responsible people do" there is absolutely no compelling argument as to how this registry would help anyone at any time. I know that with a PAL I'm on file already as having a Restricted/NR PAL. I know that my Restricted FA's are re...

Re: Canadian Armed Forces

My interpretation of that, is that the OP is looking to use the CF in some capacity to gain "life experience" prior to seeking a law enforcement career. Going into either the Regular military, or Reserve force are both substantial commitments. I can only speak anecdotally about the Reg For...
