Re: Probation Officer vs Police Officer

This is probably a huge long shot but are there any probation officers turned cops out there? I am a probation officer. I like what I do...pay and benefits are good. But I have Kind of lost faith in it. The YCJA is a farce and youths keep getting joke sentences. I think I would have a good shot wit...

Re: Applying to Correctional Service Canada

received an interview invite (for CX) today for later in the month in Kingston. BUT, I am out of province during that week for orientation with Alberta Corrections. Is CSC in anyway going to understand and reschedule? Do not tell them you are currently in Alberta Corrections. Simply say you are out...

Re: ERT Posters - David Eby's not a fan, what do you think?

Just came down the pipe, the project has been abandoned. Word has it that none of the words would fit on a medium t-shirt, and the ERT members refused to wear any size bigger, lest it make them look less "Ripped and totally shredded" They were especially unhappy how the size large t-shirt...

Re: Applying to Correctional Service Canada

Every person from CSC with whom I have spoken is very friendly and really seems to enjoy his/her work. Now if only Striker was more upbeat. I feel I can safely say that anyone who says they enjoy their work in CSC is either misleading you or has not actually worked inside a prison. Although I certa...

Re: Applying to Correctional Service Canada

I swear I said almost the same things in my interview. Funny how after only a year things can change . Amazing what a reality check will do isn't it? Are you two trying to make me jaded about corrections? Don't we have to play the game at least until we are hired? Then again you could be pulling my...

Re: odd recruiting practises

No no, MYSPACE is for the 12 year olds (and their stalkers), Facebook is for everyone else. Everyone but me. I prefer not to have complete strangers I may have shared a class with 25 years ago asking me to be their buddies. I use this crazy ol' fashioned thing called personal contact with my friend...

Re: odd recruiting practises

I suspect this was a way to try and push the applicants buttons. See how they react. My interviewers certainly try to push my buttons.

It's inappropriate. I suspect that would not stand up legally.

Re: Correctional Service of Canada application process

What does the CTP consist of? I know that during the first 4 weeks you do an online course but what do you do during the 7 weeks at the Correctional Staff College If someone tell me how the 7 weeks are broken down...more or less... THANKS! After your online case work, you will do Part B, or your mo...

Re: MP VS. Corrections

Well seeing how I am an Reg force MP I can say from experience that: 1. I can "write charges and reports that stand up to the scrutiny of court" 2. I have "use of force experience under stress, several types of firearms training and experience, and search & seizure experience&quo...

Re: MP VS. Corrections

This is common sense. At least for a cop who knows something about the system. A CO with a few years experience, can write charges and reports that stand up to the scrutiny of court, use of force experience under stress, several types of firearms training and experience, and search & seizure ex...
