Re: Toronto Police Service

You aren’t actually suggesting anything. In almost every one of your posts, you just quote a police officer and agree with what that person has said.

Re: Toronto Police Service

Toronto Police seems to be updating their career page as there is now an error message that appears when trying to access it. The error message reads: "We are currently upgrading our Careers site, to provide you with a better experience. Please check back soon." Wonder if this may be asso...

Re: Potential police applicant? Good applicant?

Guys, Many of our new recruits are coming to us with PhDs, several masters degrees, extensive professional work history, management experience, military experience, volunteer experience, or a combination of all of the above. The easiest part of a recruiters job is finding the most qualified people o...

Re: New look for the Toronto PS

I once drove from a traffic stop on the highway and all the way into town and into the quizno's to get lunch with my rear lights flashing. I didn't notice until I pulled into the parking lot and saw my cruiser reflection in the windows. The lowest setting on our light bars are LED only. After four ...

Question:

If you have been using it for years, doesn't that mean you have been in the application process for years? Is it really worth the money then?

Re: Honest opinion about my past.

Here is an honest answer. It's not the prior suspension or the HTA ticket that will stop you from getting hired. What will stop you from getting hired is the lack of maturity in understanding the difference between a child making childish mistakes, and a mature adult who knows better. The lack of un...

Re: Toronto Police Service

I am still confused by this. The approved budget stated hiring for 2016 in all three intakes. What changed ?? Cutbacks. This is the last class for the foreseeable future. TPS is officially on a hiring freeze. The promotional lists have also been frozen. If you want to be a police officer, start app...

Re: Engineering Degree to RCMP Applicant (or others)

We hire people with PhDs. Your professional degree will be attractive, but won't make or break your application. Anyone who says education doesn't matter is just plain wrong. We expect today's applicants to be well rounded, including well educated. Lower educated applicants get hired, and often do w...

But... I would be curious to know if there are any Chiefs out there who don't have a post secondary education. Probably none. Ironic that you post this question in the Toronto Police thread. The current chief of the Toronto Police Service obtained his degree AFTER becoming the chief of police. He g...

Argue all you want, people.

It doesn't matter what your opinion is; higher education is the way things are going. Period.

Re: Toronto Police Service

Being "screwed" implies that somehow you are owed something. You applied for a job, the positions that were available got filled and they announced they aren't hiring any more (or as many) people for the next little while. It happens in pretty much any job in any industry, there are more ...

Re: Toronto Police Service

You're correct I do think that having an education doesn't make someone better at the career of POLICING. If you think for even a micro second that having a degree in anything makes you better able to diffuse a domestic, handle drunks, or communicate with individuals in the ghetto.......then frankl...
