Re: Toronto Police Service

You start with PRU...you need to learn how to police first.

Community Officers/neighbourhood officers are people with time on.

Re: Toronto Police Service

Curious if the new shift testing still involves the same number of platoons and shift hours? No. The 11.5/12 hour shift rotation would result in one platoon being dismantled and its staff spread out amongst the other 4. Shift hours would be very different and based on having the most amount of cars...

Re: Toronto Police Service

The key is to understand what the competency is truly about. Flexibility is about willing to take advice or openness to a new idea and putting it into practice or use, even if you have reservations. It shows that you're not dead set in your ways. It doesn't have to be life changing or magical, can b...

Re: GO / Metrolinx Transit Safety Officers (Special Constable)

I have my final board interview next week and I am excited yet nervous at the same time, especially since the recruiters said that I can't really prepare for this one and that I just gotta go in and sell myself. It's a meeting between you, the director and inspectors. There may be a staff sgt now, ...

Re: Hired!

After 11 years I finally got the call. Hired. Damn it is surreal. Big thanks to ATR and DW.
Good things come to those who wait.

Re: ASK A SPECIAL CONSTABLE

Either you've been accused/charged/convicted of some manner of offence, your credit sucks, your driving record sucks (DUI, stunt racing...) you've done too many drugs, associate with shady characters, have shady characters in your family that you may or may not have contact with... Or an employer s...

Re: Store Security releasing offenders

I think the program is a good idea, especially if your call volume is busy. He arrested 4 people for stuff under $10? How about getting the stuff back and telling them to take a hike? I I've told him that. Get CCTV footage, post their pics for his staff and next time bring them in. He refuses becau...

Re: Store Security releasing offenders

I work in 52 and can tell you the amount of Theft Under calls we get are insane. We have one LPO who owns his own company and use some his SGs to watch people he's arrested while he goes out and arrests more. For amounts as minimal as $3. I'm not kidding. One day he had 4 people arrested and each wa...

PS "rarely getting a lunch" is VOT...
Take your lunch or claim the OT.
We deserve breaks and down time.
Yeah, I know. We get a "no lunch hour taken" and it gets banked in our cashable time. I never work for free.

Re: Fire to police

[ Where do you work? That is BS. Admin can be done on shift. Reports can be done on shift. You are screwing the membership by showing up on VOT to do paperwork as you show we don't actually need more members because the X amount we have can do it all in their shift. Essentially you're making a bad ...

Re: Fire to police

Depends on the paid duty. Some you are voluntold. Not quite sure how that works. Me thinks y'all have a shitty system. I don't mind. Lots of jobs expect that As for doing paperwork unpaid......ummmm no. It's not about hating the job or sticking it to management, but don't be okay with that. A big p...

What are the thoughts on English cops out there?
Their accents are fantastic over the air. :smirk:

Seriously though, I don't think it really matters as long as you do your job and aren't a plug.

Re: Fire to police

Yes and no. During the probationary period anything can happen. Honestly, you really, really, reaaaallllly have to f* up to get terminated during probation. Most services spend thousands of dollars on training a recruit and will make every effort to "counsel" the officer. Mistakes that can cost you...
