Re: Hearing Test - Not Meeting Minimum Standards (OACP)
A someone with a hearing impaired child and having done the research and sat in on the audiologists end for many tests and being able to compare her results to what I see in my kid day to day I'd propose that if your doctor thinks audiology is pure crap, then he or she is actually pure crap as a doc...

Re: BC Corrections
Is BC Corrections still doing training? Also, does anyone know what the period for being clean and away from criminal activity is for BC Corrections? It doesn’t mention anywhere on the site or forums. I know that my Federal Training is on hold due to COVID-19. It will always be on a case by case ba...

Re: What Certifications Should I Look Into?
People get hired from fast food and delivery drivers with a degree in nothing but life. Some get hired with a number of degrees etc. Don't over think it. Present well and answer the interview questions well, don't "neglect" to mention stuff on your background, have some life experience, check a few ...

Re: Corrections In Manitoba
Can someone explain any differences between a youth corrections counsellor and a correctional officer? I'm going on a tour of Agassiz Youth Centre tomorrow and I just want to make sure that I'm a good fit for the role. I have training in mediation and further training in victim/offender mediation. ...

Re: Corrections In Manitoba
Haven't been at this post for a while. Really miss my old job at HCC, which was a very good example at safety and security side, one of the safest institutions I could ever think of national wide. I didn't realize that until starting working at OCDC (Ottawa). Now moving to CSC and hope it would be ...

Re: New recruits at an all-time low
This is not just Police. At least in Manitoba its also hard to get new people for Corrections, and I hear the Fed Pen here is not exactly bursting at the seams with applicants either, like maybe they used to be. We started getting less numbers for testing and of with those that did go, the process w...

That being said, the private forums are still active and available for members.

Re: New recruits at an all-time low
CBSA does 5k relocation allowance as well. However the $125 a week for 18 weeks in Rigaud turns people off A whole $5K! lol I mean its better than nothing but really just good for some single kid with no family or established household. We've done a number of moves with the Feds and that amount cov...

Re: Store Security releasing offenders
I don't know the process but do know its already pretty much done that way in in a lot of places, more or less. If fact I know stores that don't even bother to pass details on to police if they get their product back in one piece. Say its not worth their employees time to sit and wait for police. Wa...

They don't make my exact model anymore but the link below is for the newest generation of it. About what I paid but now with rear camera as well. Its ok, night quality is not so great, has some silly extra features like an alarm that goes off after driving a long time at night to assure your are awa...

We are working to infuse the magazine with more issues related to Corrections, as well as CBSA and conservation officers, etc.
Stay tuned for something coming to the website and more on our Q&A with Kevin Junor at Ontario Corrections.

Re: Moderate Risk to Re Offend
Thing is... what people don't realize (at least at the provincial level here in ontario) is that once an offender is sentenced and arrives back at the jail the mechanism kicks in to get that offender out ASAP. Same in Manitoba however I'll see your provincial BS and raise you. Our government has go...
